i messed around with the pxt.json file and changed the transparency color, now it _is_ possible to have 16 colors!

yes but one of them is reserved for transparency and you cant easily change the transparency color

This actually has been done many times before. You also don’t have to edit the pxt.json, any form of pallette change works
