In case you need a singing, fancy, 30-second timer, here ya go. 😆 (We needed one on stream this afternoon.)

Press the **A** or **B** button to start the clock.

That’s too short of a word list. Unless Tamil only has 1,000 words. Which I doubt.

Game Words has somewhere around 200,000 words in it – about the size of the current Oxford English Dictionary.

Dang I could try but Tamil words have lots of letters like 6 on average in a pg I typed so that will be fun also there is like 290 letters total so have fun!

I got a hair-brained idea that I didn’t want to lose, so I’m putting it here. 😆

There have been a couple of attempts at graphing calculators already.

I’ve been wanting to create one, too, but I haven’t come up with a compelling reason to do so… Until now.

What about a blocks implementation of a graphing calculator? You get the functionality of MakeCode Arcade, PLUS the extension will generate interactive graphs (and perhaps other cool stuff), PLUS you can create tutorials and skill maps to create interactive lessons! Maybe entire courses!

I like this idea so much that I signed onto the forums for the first time on my phone so that I wouldn’t forget it. 😆

What do y’all think?

How much time/work to replicate the entirety of Desmos graphing calculator or major features? 🤣 Maybe even Desmos 3D 🤔 (partially because I’m taking multivariable calc and partially because I’m working on C3D so 3D has been on my mind a lot 😂)

Would it be an equation parser so you type everythign in a string or you would literally use blocks to build up equations?

I’m hoping to have a parser so that you don’t have to build the expressions with blocks. I also want it to be fairly natural, so it should understand that the expression `2x` means `2` times `x` without needing to type the asterisk.

And, yes, I’d love to implement the majority of what’s possible with a classic graphing calculator, although maybe not all of the bells and whistles in Desmos. At least, not at the beginning. 😁

Infix notation (the standard way that we write mathematics) is a PAIN to parse, so the traditional, computer-science-y method typically involves building some sort of abstract syntax tree. The original HP scientific calculators used postfix notation (a.k.a. _RPN notation_), which is much simpler to parse, and you can get away with something simpler, like a stack, to handle it.

Basically … you have to write a miniature compiler to do it “correctly.”

YEAH BOI … I may have found something that will work.

> **[algebra.ts](https://remigius42.github.io/algebra.ts/)**

_ **Edit** _: Ugh. ☹

> You must use the \* operator between coefficients and variables.

```typescript
const exp = new algebra.parse("2 * x^2 + 4 * x + 4")
String(exp) // 2x^2 + 4x + 4
```
