So this isn’t recent but about last year? I realized all my Arcade MakeCode projects were gone after not visiting the site. This annoyed me so I took a break from MakeCode. I only had some projects stored on my pc, if I can recover them then please tell me how, and if not I’d like to know how this could’ve happened. I used the Google Chrome Browser if it becomes relevent. ---

I think it relates to cookies 😕 I have had the same problem before- do you have the links of your games or did you save them? ---

I’m very sorry to hear that! All of your projects are stored locally in you browser. If you switch browsers or you clear your computer’s history (including the data stored on websites), you will lose the projects you are working on. Did you download or share your projects at any point? If so, you can import them back into the editor. We have [some new features](https://forum.makecode.com/t/announcing-sign-in-and-save-to-cloud/6640) coming to prevent this. In the meantime, make sure you save your projects locally or share them. When you download a project, you can drag the PNG or UF2 file into the arcade window to import the project. ---

No, I relied on the browser saving. It be because of Google automatically deleting the cookies or data on the website after some time. ---

Hi Coolboy, I just had something similar happen to me, only it was 1 project that was deleted, not all projects. Did you end up somehow recovering your projects? If so, can you tell me how you did it? thanks! ---

Ive lost 1 of my biggest 3d games. maybe it was to much code for the PC to handle? ☹ ---

Oh yes! If for example you see this: ![Screenshot 2024-03-13 8.39.02 PM](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex020/uploads/makecode/original/2X/5/5cf2240ba4c377bbc01741996cd05904c72384ad.png) That being the little asterisk with the day, it may mean that your project was NOT saved correctly, and may lead to it being deleted by accident! I suggest making A) Backup links B) Github links C) Image Copies D) Wait for it to save ---

If you have an Makecode account, I don’t think this is a problem, as projects are saved in the cloud, but they won’t be saved unless you open them and wait for them to save after you make your account. I lost a bunch of really old Arcade and Micro:bit projects cause I never opened them while signed into my account. One of my projects just happened to be saved because it was on one of my PyGamers and I found the file on it. Fortunately, I didn’t really care about those really old projects, but they would be nice to look back on and see how bad I was at the time. ---

I try to save whenever I do something important/complicated/time consuming (eg make a bunch of game assets) ---

@Yardbird36 sorry this happened! I’d love to hear more about what you were doing just before the project was lost. Any information you provide will be of interest, but in particular: - Were you signed into MakeCode when this happened? - Were you trying to open the project on a different machine? I’m hoping that by collecting more information about what was happening when the bug occurs, a pattern will emerge. ---
