Ok, so first off, sorry about all the constang pinging lately, anyhow, I just noticed that August 2025 is still a long time away from right now (my sense of time was wack for a few moments)
Anyhow, to pass the time, how would you guys like to do a **COMPLETELY-OPTIONAL and just-for-funsies** mini Coder King Challenge? Anyone can join the mini challenge and submit something. I might do it sometime soon…

Yo guys, nothing too important to say here, although you might think otherwise. The other day, I was kind of reflecting on the CK series in general. It has been a wild ride through, the series is about to reach its 3rd birthday and its 4th after this comp ends. Its also my forum anniversary today, so this should serve as my annual massive post.
I’m pretty sure that when I first created that topic for the inaugural Coder King, I was basing my entire personality and charisma on a few cringey hosts of reality TV shows (e.g., Lego Masters), and I had no idea about how to run something such successful at a scale like this. Needless to say, it was successful, and I never thought that I would later go on to host a sequel (CK2) and an all-stars competition (CK3) that garnered tons of hype throughout the entire MakeCode community.
I stated this in the first post of this very topic that I planned on ending the entire series at CK5. The main reason I stated was due to busy work and schedule that I feared that I would no longer be able to jump around on the forums too much anymore. But, now, after some time of reflection, I feel like I had a different motive than whatever the heck I stated in the first few paragraphs of this topic. CK3 was initially supposed to be the final love letter to this series, being the ultimate series to determine the title of LEGEND, but that idea got vetoed by the general public and this is how CK4 and CK5 came to be. CK4 seems to be running smoothly right now and CK5 seems to have an even brighter outcome.
Going from the first CODER KING all the way to this topic. I would just be: “Ah, this is extremely nostalgic”. To think that it started out when I was in Junior High, and it will end at the end of my entire career as a minor. I feel like it marked an evolution of maturity for me, I think? I would definitely state that I learned patience and how to keep everything running smoothly and enjoyable while communicating with the contestants throughout the many years. If you look back at my behavior back in CK1 and early CK2, along with my behavior on the forums in general, I might’ve shamelessly painted myself as this self-indulging and callous idiot. The evolution that came naturally from the CK series could be a reason why the unofficial game jams felt superglued to me for a few years of my life. Yet, now, despite all the connections we made for this entire series, it’s time that we say goodbye. The series is now old, extremely old; through the 4 seasons of the series, it has taken up almost half of the forum’s existence.
While discussing the idea of ending the series at CK5, I thought deeply to myself. Hypothetically, if I were to leave MakeCode like many others have done, what would the people remember me as? What would be my legacy in other words? Would I be remembered as the ultimate unofficial game jam host/judge? Would I be remembered as a modder of already-created games that I may or may not have given any credit to the OG creator for (sorry about that really)? Would I be remembered as someone who made the top 10 in the all-time leaderboard? But now, I dunno anymore, I might’ve believed that this CK series would boost up my rep when I first did it in 2022, and while it has had a stunning effect on that end, I wouldn’t necessarily say that I experienced complete satisfaction with how many years I have hosted this CK series for, perhaps it only hit me after I brought CK3 to an end?
I am too well aware that all the years of CODER KING may be great for many other forum users, but, while knowing this, I also believe that there is no more use in letting it last longer; they all say that good things always come to an end at some point, I think Coder King is reaching the end in this case. Now, that may sound somewhat depressing to hear, however, in the whole concept of CK, it seems perfectly natural, I think? Like, it’s a relic of the older generation, yet it’s finally time to let the next generation take over in general; there’s no use or benefit for me or the rest of the forums to milk this series out for the next decade. Really, each season of CK was like a chapter of a massive novel. Put them all together, and you score a masterpiece with a lasting legacy. That was what I wanted to envision CK as, what others would recognize it as. And I still hold that hope today.
This series lowkey changed my life on these forums, and I think it actually managed to change other users as well. I am truly happy about what I managed to achieve in this, and I hope many others are satisfied with my decision to end it at CK5.
