# Makecode is not dying I know it looks like its dying but this is normal, school happens, people grow up, and other stuff happens, this looks bad but its nothing, back in 2023 there was a Makecode Exodus like this but much worse, many many many popular users left but in the short aftermath new people like me joined and the forums are still alive SO PLEASE STOP PANICKING ---

Alrighty, I’m back. My doubts were cleared up fairly quickly by everyone who explained stuff. Thanks too @randomuser especially. Here is the plan. 1. Finish Stuff I promised I’d finish 2. Leave because after that I don’t really have an excuse to stay here 3. Move onto proffesional engines and perhaps post stuff on steam if those games get popular enough. Probably won’t though but its nice to think about. Don’t worry though, I won’t be leaving for a while, just because I promised I’d finish quite a bit of stuff. Once that’s done though, **that is it.** That’s the consensus. ---

I have a small problem. And I’m not to sure about this. I am not leaving make code or the forums, but I am kind of worried about my future. My dream job is to be a computer coder, doing basically anything that involves coding but, currently I am being pressured to become a pilot by almost all of my family members. This is very anxiety inducing and makes me feel stressed. Anytime I mention coding, Later they bring up being a pilot. This makes me unsure if this is really a career path I want to go into. Next, I have heard AI Being mentioned in coding, Because soon it will be able to write 10000 lines of code in a couple seconds. How easily would it take for my dream job to be replaced? AI Could do the same, if not better than me. I need some thoughts and opinions on this. Thank you. ---

I’m so sorry they are pressuring you to pursue something else ☹ It can be very hard to choose between picking a job you want the most or one that a lot of other people want you to have. I’d suggest trying to talk to them about how your dream job is to be a coder, and maybe ask them to be respectful about not pressuring you to choose one job or the other! (That way, you can make a decision about which job you want on your own time, without the stress.) For the AI- It’s true that AI has had an impact on the coding industry, but It’s impossible to predict how much of an impact it will have had by the time you enter the field. Some predictions are pessimistic (Like the one you mentioned), while others are optemistic, and even predict it would have no affect on the job market. Nobody can really know what jobs will be easy to get so far in the future when technology changes so fast! It’s impossible to predict, which can be worrying, but is also a reason to not worry too much about current predictions and pick a field you’re truly passionate about 🙂 In my opinion, it’s worth it to pursue something you love and risk having to change jobs in the future, rather than stick with something you don’t like and might end up regretting. But really, it is your choice-- I hope my opinion can be useful, but it’s up to you! 🫂 ---
