Yeah so basically ignore the title of this project and just listen to the sounds I have made because who knows if I’ll ever get around to making a UI for this.

Also if you restart a bunch it sounds weird because of a Makecode bug where not every sound “thread” gets stopped when the console restarts. I’m making a bug report about it so if it _doesn’t_ sound weird when you spam restart then I guess it got fixed.

when I restarted it sounded really cool because the chords were broken up, so instead of “bum bum bum” it sounded like “brrum brum brrum”.
I don’t think anyone understands…

I love the sound! I’m trying to remember what that sounds like… it has the tone of an old record player.

It’s supposed to sound like that! Makecode is being really weird and not playing it correctly the first time it opens and idk why that could be.

Ok so probably the reason it’s being weird and playing incorrectly is that I’m using like 1000+ length buffers to create LFO and the sim doesn’t like it when I stitch 12 or those together to play sounds, so I’ll stop doing that lol

Ok. There are still many bugs and unfinished features, but I have added an instrument editor with at least a little bit of functionality, accessible by left clicking the instrument you want to edit.
There are many more changes!
You can click and then drag to make longer notes, Pressing A now saves your song, and pressing B plays it in a loop. I’ll make it so that B also _stops_ the loop asap! 😅

To edit numbers in the instrument editor, you right click on the box to make it highlighted and then you can type numbers and use the dash ( - ) key to delete numbers.
I’m considering changing it to the delete key and preventing said delete key from restarting the simulator like it normally does, as well making the numbers disappear when you click on the box, so that you don’t have to delete them every time you want to change the number. I still have to add all the LFO (Low Frequency Modulation) options to the editor, because currently the only option I’ve added is the strength of the volume LFO and there’s actually frequency LFO too, so that’s a lot of options to add in not a lot of space. I’ll have to add some menus I guess.

Instrument editor is accessed with right click, not left click. I’m on a trackpad and I forgot which was which.

Working on adding options like the number of measures in the song. Then I think I’ll figure out percussion instruments.

Ok there are a lot of updates, but I have to stress that the “file format” for songs keeps changing, so don’t make anything you care too much about because it will probably become a mess of glitched notes when the next update drops. I’ll add a way to reset your save data so that these glitched notes don’t make it unusable. Probably pressing Menu will give you that option.

I have also added a select feature. Click the little icon in the bottom right and you can cycle between selecting notes from the current selected instrument, all instruments, and off. Pressing C copies the notes in the current selected area and V pastes those notes in a location relative to your camera.

You can also now change how many ms the shortest note lasts. This is temporary and will be replaced with a proper BPM option… someday idk.

As usual the new update comes with a small tune I made 🙂

I showed this off on [Fridays’s stream](https://www.youtube.com/live/QL8Y2KhdrUM?feature=shared) (shown around 1:05:20) but I made a neat little sound player based on a hand pan or steel drum as Joey pointed out.

Hold down the heart button to see the menu if you’re on a touch screen. If you have a mouse it should pop up when your cursor hits the button so you must be on some sort of touch screen. This is very nice update to the forums, I like these reactions a lot!

Based on the reactions I have a feeling they noticed. I’m currently trying to get my music editor to a point where I have all the features I need to actually make music in it (Tracks. I’m trying to add a track system. This is a nightmare. Help me. Please.) but I’ll remind y’all that you can [make your own rhythms](https://forum.makecode.com/t/unnamed-rhythm-game-devlog/38875/33) to go with music if you ~~want~~ are brave enough. I’m very proud of the system I made for it tbh. The project link in that post for making your own is probably a bit outdated. It will still work just fine but you might not have the interesting visual effects I added (maybe?) after that post.

Also if someone wants to suggest music that I can rip from somewhere such as someone’s free music track that you particularly like I would be happy to make a short and easy track. The only issue is that I really can’t be bothered to search for tracks myself. **Please make any suggestions in the [rhythm game topic](https://forum.makecode.com/t/unnamed-rhythm-game-devlog/38875) and not here**, thanks!

Like beepbox but they can be more than one measure long or… I think that’s how beepbox works? I haven’t played with beepbox very much because I only use it when I listen to music my friends make and usually I do that on my phone where beepbox is not very easy to use.
