# How to change the look of the console in the web editor

I’ve seen that some people would have a special looking simulator / console skin. [Here’s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mv43zXzJkY) an example.

I tried going into the “beta” version of makecode but it did not change the way the console looked. From what I know so far, the only time it changes colors is when applying multiplayer and then again, it doesn’t change the look.

The example you linked is from ~2019. That is the old look of the console, and it’s been changed since. It’s not possible to get it back.

Yeah I figured as much. Quite unfortunate. Would be nice if they added ways of customizing certain UI elements.
