# 🌇 Mid September to Mid October update

Since this is a LONG post, a table of contents:

1. My work this month
2. Hack club updates
3. What’s happening next month? (A reflection)

_ **My work this month** _

Well, I have some good news-  
_HEBES is pending to be approved TO BE ON STEAM!_

🥳 🎉 🎊

Specifically: the fee is paid (YAY!!) and I’m waiting for my tax documents to be processed, then for the game itself to be looked over and approved!

This should mean it will be on steam by the end of November! :duck: :duck: :duck:

There was a lot of behind-the-scenes work that went into this part of the process:

- @UnsignedArduino had to completely overhaul his converter
- He also had to guide me MANY times on how to use it (I am quite a bit more familiar with tools in the terminal now XD)
- I put all the credits for our backers in the game!
- The game’s code had to be reworked to fix a bug with one of its extensions
- And all of the assets/images/resources for the page had to be made!

I am just BEYOND excited to see the first MakeCode game on steam!!! I am so grateful for Unsigned and Invalid in this process \<3

_ **Hack Club Updates** _  
A side note before I start: I am working on possibly doing a _MakeCode-specific hack club event!_ 😮 The event I’m on now wasn’t designed for MakeCode, although it is allowed, so If I have to promote makecoders joining any hack club program that would be my next one 👀

In late August I was invited to help out with a fun new hack club program called TERRA! It’s a program where you play a farming game, code, and grow your farm to get a laptop. 🙂

So I maybe tripped  
and fell  
and it’s now the LARGEST EVENT by daily active users in hack club

… So needless to say I’ve been BUSY! We’ve got 7,100 users now, over 800 completed projects, nearly 12,000 hours spent coding, sent out an email to 250,000 people about it, and are expected to have anywhere between $100,000 and $500,000 of funding 🥳

If you can manage to code 10 hours this weekend (By EOD Sunday in EDT), you’re in the challenge! I warn you, it’s not for the casual coder, you’ll need to ship 10 hours every week for 12 weeks to get the laptop. But if you fail, you can still get small prizes like a drawing tablet or a shark plushie 😺

P.s. I’ve already caught 3 MakeCoders in the hack club slack saying they came there from this thread! Wow, thank you everyone, the presence of MakeCode is growing so much that it’s gaining real recognition. Twice now I’ve also overheard people in the office saying “This user used something called ‘makecode’?” and whipped my head around to gush about it 😆

_ **What’s happening next month?** _  
Not having anything to put here feels wrong! 😵‍💫

I put off this update for a bit, not just because Terra has been a bit all-consuming, but also because as long as this last update was unreleased, in a way, I was still president…

It’s hard to transition away from MakeCode! This presidency has truly been the most meaningful part of my life for the past 2 years. It’s been how I define myself, my ambitions, and my impact on the world. I face the question, who am I apart from this community?

I guess what I have to remember is that I can love MakeCode, with all my heart, and still find fulfillment here at Hack Club. After all, they really are two parts of the same whole-- just communities of people learning to code and supporting each other in what they’re passionate about ❤

(Plus… there’s no way you’re getting rid of me! I’ll still be around the forums and getting MakeCode into hack club as much as I can.)

P.s. I also had an AMAZING livestream last week!! So many people showed up to see the sprite stars games and other cool projects (check out [Unsigned’s 3D engine](https://forum.makecode.com/t/unsignedarduinos-updates/46422)!!), I have the video downloaded so I’ll upload it to YouTube when I have a chance : D

P.ps. I absolutely want to write (or film?) a whole big thank you to MakeCode and a summary of my 2 years, but that’s for another less busy day, once I have the emotional bandwidth to process it 😆

Omg I’m so excited!!! 🥳 🥳

I have been awaiting it and also bothering all my friends about it, so I think its safe to say I am getting it immediately. This is such a great achievement and I’m sure it’ll get Makecode more 👀 .

This totally feels likes something I would do 😆

Yeah every time I mention I’m a game dev, they \*usually\* ask what software and I have to explain Makecode because they have not heard of it before. 🫠

This is so mood, like, wow great job 😆

So just overall, I am glad you are staying, but also glad your contributing to a great organization like Hack Club. With how friendly and helpful you are, I’m sure your making a big difference.

I, (and I’m sure almost every makcoder on here) can say that you being president was amazing, but you just existing is even better, so please keep going; thanks for all the kindness (and arrays, you were the one who taught me how to arrays from that one yt tutorial lol), and here is me returning the favor :3
