So I’m making a underwater exploration and I’m wondering if there is a way to make the screen darken and lighten when reaching a certain area(something I’m also wondering I that you don’t need to answer is if it can work well with the lanterns extention)

I’d use the built-in color fading extension! When you hit a certain area, fade all of the colors to slightly darker versions. If you’re fading all of the colors, it will work perfectly with the lanterns extension! ☺
