This wasn’t targeted, it’s just something that’s been happening. To be fair, seeing recent replies in a post called “The forum is dying” would probably make new users who haven’t seen it before think that the forum is dying when it isn’t. ---

when I was looking at the comments and stuff–i saw one saying how scratch has more people then makecode cus of the textbooks or something, but that was a while ago-- anyways- I joined the forum when doing PLTW in school, my teacher taught us basics and I looked for extra help and found this forum (also personally scratch is nice and all-- being able to create non-pixelated things as far as I’ve seen, but I enjoy makecode–and I find tutorials that help a lot ex. I was trying to make an intro a while back and I found an old tutorial that helped like–a LOT _it was like from 4 yrs ago_) anyways!.. I just wanted to say that considering I never actually used scratch and most tutorials I found for scratch didn’t really help as much as I wanted to… (yes I forgot about punctuation but…uh 🤐) ---

I know this topic has been dead for a while but i think i should revive it because i think the state of the forum has to be discussed a bit. Unfortunately, i’ve also been participating in some things mentioned in the following, and i’m trying to improve. It’s also a long post, as a warning. > **a lot of words** > > Recently, there’s been a lot of spam in topics that are not chatting related. This is a forum, not a chatting area, as a lot of users have already said. Recently, some users have been posting unrelated comments on otherwise serious topics. Some of them might be contributing to the topic but have been split into multiple short posts. This could be a bit of a hassle for moderators, who have to go and approve every single one of these. Another annoying bit is people just posting memes on topics, such as Minecraft movie memes, “six seven”, or the caught you thing where they take a screenshot of a user typing. > > Another thing i want to touch on are the amounts of topics created for not coding related things. Recently, the most active topics on the forums have been ones that aren’t directly related to programming or game devlopment. I wont call out any topics, but there are a few. Though these are one of the special things that make the makecode forums unique, i think the amount of coding related projects have died down. > > The reason i wrote this post was because some users were actually taking a step back from the forums because of the current state, such as botwarrior or fixtitude. The forums are supposed to be a place to grow and learn as a developer and programmer, not discord. Yes. Just yes. I have seen posts like: just post it in x topic, it is basically our chatroom because no-one looks in there. I don’t think this is ok, as the forums are meant to be for everyone. If your topic is so off topic that people set its visibility to invisible, you are doing something wrong. A lot of people are leaving, and I don’t think this is a coincidence. I know people have to leave at some point, but this many all at once? I don’t think anyone can honestly say this is just a coincidence at this point. Sidenote, please stop all of this (insert name here) studios stuff. It is really annoying. I may sound mean, but I haven’t seen a good game produced on here yet by a “studio”. Or a game at all from the members… but we won’t talk about that because ~~I don’t want to get banned~~ I don’t want to sound mean ---
