Oh I definitely still do. Even with a website full of awesome palettes, there’s plenty of fiddling to be done.

When I’m doing pixel art on my own from scratch, I like to pick 4 or so primary colors and then so a light or dark shade of each, usually taking into account things like color temperature and so on. I’ll use my last few spots for any in-betweens or striking detail colors that would help me illustrate, and voila.

I’m also working on a program that automagically picks a palette based on the image you pass it! My goal is to make a 3d renderer that uses Hex colors for objects and textures but rasterizes them with a constantly adapting Makecode palette on the fly.
