You can if its a new account; my alt account (that I used for testing) gave me the option to delete, whereas my account does not. ---

There is no hard-and-fast rule, but please don’t abuse this feature! it’s confusing for everyone (as evidenced by the confusion in this thread). Changing usernames should be an infrequent occurrence! ---
