Hi I am trying to use the microphone on V2 to detect a certain sound melody and control a stepper motor. I found this cool extension from Joshua that should do the job [https://github.com/JoshuaAHill/dissertation-ui-example](https://github.com/JoshuaAHill/dissertation-ui-example) which he presented in [https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=LzkN4j2DB\_w](https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=LzkN4j2DB_w) I am just not able to get it running - any ideas? Hi @geab , It looks like that GitHub repository doesn’t have any substantial code. In the presentation he mentioned it uses a special version of MakeCode (around [https://youtu.be/LzkN4j2DB\_w?t=2032](https://youtu.be/LzkN4j2DB_w?t=2032)). The video is too blurry to see the URL. I think the substantial part of Joshua’s work may be in another repo: [https://github.com/JoshuaAHill/Dissertation-Project-Files](https://github.com/JoshuaAHill/Dissertation-Project-Files), but that’s not a MakeCode extension. It may be best to contact Joshua. Thanks Bill for looking into the code behind. I will check with Joshua and get back with hopefully good news as I think that would make the microphone much more interesting & with an extension easy to use. ---

In case anyone is still interested in this, here’s a prototype extension for musical note / frequency detection: [https://github.com/bsiever/pxt-freq](https://github.com/bsiever/pxt-freq) . It’s a work-in-progress and doesn’t work very well with lower frequencies (below middle C) or instruments with complex harmonics.
