Hi everyone! Sorry the weekly topic is a bit late this week. This week weā€™re getting a bit niche. I know that musicals arenā€™t for everyone and itā€™s possible that some of you have never seen a musical, but I think musicals are pretty fun. Itā€™s always so cool to see how music can communicate so much and tell stories. I would consider a musical to be any long performanceā€“movie or live stage performanceā€“that uses lyrical music numbers to advance the story. For reference, here are some musicals: - Lion King (on Broadway and the movie) - Tangled - Wicked (on Broadway and the movie version) - Hamilton - The Greatest Showman So letā€™s chat about our favorite musicals!! I also want to preface that you donā€™t have to have seen a musical for you to love it. There are plenty of musical scores that I just listen to but have never actually seen the performance. šŸŽŸ šŸŽ¶ šŸ“½ ---

oh man i do not like musicals. this is 100% a personal problem; i know there are many great musicals out there they just make me uncomfortable for some reason that being said, itā€™s ā€œlittle shop of horrorsā€ ---

Mamma Mia is great!! Itā€™s definitely a comfort musical for me and ABBA in a musical setting is just brilliant. ---

Even though I do love Mamma Mia as I just said, I think my favorite musical is Dear Evan Hansen. It has some really uplifting lyrics, some fun songs, and Ben Plattā€™s voice is incredible. I havenā€™t ever seen it, though! Not live or the movie! P.S. this was hard for me, I really like musicals šŸ˜. ---

Best one Iā€™ve listened to has to be The War of The Worlds by Jeff Wayne, itā€™s just such good music + itā€™s an adaptation of one of my favourite books (and I literally live where itā€™s set too!!!) ---

I donā€™t know any musicals (because I donā€™t watch TV, movies, etc. šŸ’€) but I really liked Anastasiaā€™s songs when I was crew for our schoolā€™s musical one year. ---

LITERALLY IN THE EXACT SAME BOAT AAAAAAAAA My favourite is Sherlock Gnomes but itā€™s trueā€¦ I absolutely hate musicals. I would have said Hazbin Hotel but it would be because of animation bias, the animation is too good for its own good. My sisters are OBSESSED with Hamilton and wonā€™t stop screaming about it, which is fueling the eternal, bottomless pit of hatred I have for musicals. ---
