This is fantastic! I’m currently in the progress of porting some of my makecode projects to godot for steam. I never even considered directly putting my projects on steam. If this goes smoothly, this could alter the objectives of makecode development forever and prove makecode as a viable engine.
Hey Invalid! IMakeCode and I are very thankful for your kindness. It really means a lot to us that you’d give the extra money to us!
For those who donate, you’re helping Invalid release a MakeCode game onto Steam, which is really cool!
And for those who choose to donate past the $100, thank you! Most of the costs to finish the game to the best we can get it and to release it on Steam will be coming from my pocket. So it really means a lot to both IMakeCode and me, but especially me.
Even if you don’t or can’t donate, just word of mouth about Hebes and this future project, Irida, will be enough. Thank you everyone!
This means it’s official- Hebes will be the first MakeCode game on Steam!! AHHHH!!!
Thank you so, so much to everyone who has supported the project so far to get us here! You are all a part of MakeCode history, and this will be a big step for the next MakeCode games to make it to Steam.
I can’t thank them all in this post (For legal reasons, I can thank them privately, but not share their names here if they don’t announce it themselves) but almost all of our support has come directly from the MakeCode community!
What’s next for Hebes?
The fundraiser will stay open, but once it ends, I’ll buy the license and put Hebes on Steam before its release to be ‘wishlisted’. Once Invalid is ready to launch, i’ll post it here to let you know!
And as you might’ve seen, it’s up to @InvalidProject to decide what they would want to do if the project reaches over 100% funding, which they’ve decided to put towards getting other Makecoder’s projects on Steam!
@IMakeCode had been working on an RPG for a while now here and there in MakeCode. However, there’s been many difficulties creating his passion project. I’ve been helping him come up with ideas for Irida, but after a while, we decided to build the game together.
Because of the limitations of MakeCode—and because we both agreed to make this game as great as we can—we decided to start fresh in Godot. Right now from what I know, @IMakeCode is still working on making a demo to Irida in MakeCode, while I’m creating the game in Godot. I’m not sure if I’d be allowed to talk much about the Godot project here, but if the MakeCode demo gets any traction, I’ll let everyone know!
For right now, I cannot tell you all what Irida exactly is until either the MakeCode or Godot demo releases. We have almost the entire story prepared. While @IMakeCode creates the art and MakeCode coding, I’m working on music alongside @InvalidProject and the Godot coding.
I didn’t intend for this post to be so long, but I felt like I needed to get some of this clear. :]
I am pretty sure that @InvalidProject is still working on Hebes at this current moment (at least that’s what I think), so there’s no reason to post on the platform Steam until everything has been completed. So far, as far as I can tell, it seems that we have only just hit (and exceeded) the $100 monetary requirement.
