I am working on a game with a very good concept but I am bad at sprite art. This is not the game but just a blank project where I changed the palette to my palette and got my current animations and some physics into. The actual game is coming along very well. Making art for this shouldn’t be that hard for you, as the colour palette is reasonable and my character is 5 by 8 lol. I need some jumping animations and maybe better left and right ones too. I am sorry if this is too much to ask but I just can’t.
So i could make this, but i’d rather spend my time teaching it instead of doing it for you - ik you are very capable of doing it, yr pixel art is pretty good!
Walking
5x8 is a VERY small resolution, i definitely advise going a tad bit larger, perhaps like 8x8 minimum and up to 16x16 or 13x13, just because it makes it a lot easier to draw the leg motions and the details of a character
If you’re struggling with walking animations - that makes sense, i struggle making them a lot too, especially if i try doing it from memory
you could:
-
For a more realistic humanoid: Use a good reference img (make sure to move the sprite up and down at the right frames and don’t forget to move the arms too). I advise going for the 4 frame animation to start and then interpolating some frames if you want it smoother
Saint 11 also has a good tutorial V

For a stylised human: Make it have less realistic proportions and be rlly smol so you can just reference the image above but much less detailed (like sometimes you can just get away with bobbing and some leg shuffling lol)
-
Just don’t animate a human! (just think of floor 13, robot survival, hebes, etc)
Jumping
For jumping i wouldn’t sweat it, you can get away with minimal animation and just making a dust effect with the extra effects ext when the player jumps. (like in the phantoms collab i did)
here’s some more stuff on jumping if you want it to be more detailed :D.

So here is the thing. My character is 5 by 8 because of the tile map, which is actually 8 by 8 tiles. It is using the overworld extension to have all of these tiny one screen maps. I guess at that size jumping anims should be pretty easy.
I know its none of my business, but you could just do a simple over and under walking animation
The top baige is the head, the bottom is the torso, and the pink are the legs. You could make this smaller if you wanted, too.
