So, could you get those up soon? We might have to delay the next president a little then, maybe have them come in in mid-october instead of early

Like having two presidents at once?

Ok by the time this post gets approved the election topic SHOULD be up.

Correct me if I’m wrong, at the time the topic is pending.

Edit: Ok its up

September Update :maple_leaf:

Hello everyone, happy autumn and fall equinox!
I’m so happy to announce (as you may have already heard) that my speech synthesizer is officially OUT!
Speech synthesis and other advanced audio tools have been highly requested in our community for a long time, so I’m glad I was able to fill in this gap in tools and expand what’s possible in the language.
You can see the extension topic here or try out the new website!

What’s the plan for next month?
I’m running for re-election in October!! You can cast your vote for the next president here. (I highly reccomend you check out the other candidates for more information on their proposals!)

I truly, truly loved everything I was able to accomplish this term!! I thought I’d recap each month of my first year of presidency…
October: Won the election!
November: Polled the community on what projects they want improved.
December: Recorded interviews with four experienced makecoders!
January: Holiday break : - )
February: Published my interview with Luke!
March: Published my interview with Sarge!
April: Break for exams!
May: Published my interview with Invalidproject!
June: Published my interview with Dangerkitty!
July: Summer job : 0
August: Background research on speech synthesis…
September: Published by speech synthesizer extension!

Poll time!
I have a few far fetched ideas for what I’d do in November if I was re-elected:

Which ideas would most benifit the community?
  • Get a Makecode game published on the Steam marketplace
  • Weekly livestreams for live code help and discussion from me
  • An animated promotional video for the forums showcasing the community
  • New tutorials for highly requested topics (Raycasting, arrays, etc)
  • More interviews
  • I have even more ideas (Reply!!)

I’d love to hear your opinion on them or hear more ideas in the replies! I think the best ideas always come from the community, so I’ll need your help if I plan on making this next year even better than the last

Don’t we already have "The weekly livestreamsā€ thing?

Kinda, mods usually do 3 per week if it isn’t cancelled (To be fair, a lot are getting cancelled)

Also, getting a makecode game on the Steam page seems a bit too far.

Everything else seems good with me.

Um… idk about that one
I have a really good explanation (trust) but I’m really bad with words, so please bear with me.
I really like Makecode as a game engine, but in this engine I would say it’s pretty easy to construct a game. If there was a way to upload Makecode games to Steam, people would probably storm Steam with a bunch of low quality speedily-made Arcade Makecode cash grab games. Even high quality games can be made in less than a week.
I also feel as if Makecode is more like the Tutorial when it comes to coding, as it starts with blocks and then can go into Javascript or Python. After a couple months/years you move onto other game engines that are for more high quality games.
I’ve always felt that creating video games shouldn’t get easier/harder. It’s perfect where it’s at, and if you want to make a great game, you have to work for it. Nowadays, you can just code an entire game using AI. That stinks. I’m not saying Makecode is is bad, what I’m trying to say is that Makecode games should stay on the forums or on the Makecode website.
But, I will say it could be fun to publish 1 high quality game from Makecode onto Steam, but only 1.

I’m pretty sure you can upload Scratch games to Steam with what seems like a pretty similar method to what we’d have to do, and it doesn’t seem like it’s causing any trouble. Also, Steam’s moderation for uploading games seems moderate enough to keep cash grabs made in a few days out of the store.

That’s not possible (I mean, it’s possible to flood Steam with games, just that they cost 100$ each to publish)
I’m suggesting we put just one game- our best foot forward- onto the marketplace for free, so that we can promote the community and show that truly amazing games can be made on here!

That’s what I’m hoping for :eyes:

Maybe compile the best of the best we have (TMF, Pixel Smash, etc.) into a collection, with a menu like the old compilation games (Sega’s 6-Pak, Super Mario All-Stars for SNES, all that) with nice colors and nice menu music.
