Hi everyone! Can you believe that it’s the last full week of March? And it’s officially Spring in the Northern Hemisphere and Fall in the Southern Hemisphere! Hope the change in seasons bring something good for everyone.
This week, we want to talk about breakfast. What is your favorite thing to eat for the first meal? I know it’s possible that you don’t eat breakfast, but we’re getting broad in this topic. We’re viewing breakfast as anything that you like to eat first in a day. For example, I know there are some people that swear on cold pizza in the morning. Maybe you eat a salad first thing to get some good greens in your day! There’s no judgement! Let’s chat about it!
It totally depends on how lazy I am feeling at the moment.
I always have boxed cereal and milk available on those days when I’m feeling really lazy and just want something to eat quickly. When I have a bit more time, the slightly less lazy route, but still carb-heavy, is oatmeal with hopefully some sort of granola or muesli on top and whatever fresh berries are in the fridge.
When I’m feeling fancy, though, my go-to is a French-style omelette: light, fluffy, and creamy all at the same time. I go the simple route – a little cheese, maybe some grilled onions and/or mushrooms, and topped with parsley or green onion.
If I’m heading out for breakfast, then I’m a diner junkie. I’ll eat anything on the menu because it all makes me happy. We also have a French-Asian fusion patisserie nearby… That stuff is fantastic! (Tous les jours – If you have one nearby and haven’t stopped in, then you definitely should visit!)
Above all that, though, you really can’t beat a good brunch buffet. Why choose when you can try everything!
I always thought that I wasn’t much of a breakfast person, but as I think about this question, there are a LOT of foods that I really enjoy eating in the morning. It just depends on the day and the mood that I’m in.
As a quick and easy breakfast: bagel and vegan cream cheese or avocado with toast or rice.
For a bit more involved savory breakfast: a good breakfast burrito. Highly recommend vegan eggs and soyrizo. So good.
For a sweet breakfast: Waffles!! Sorry @UnsignedArduino, I’m a waffles over pancakes person all the way. Any waffle is good, but Trader Joe’s makes these small, pre-packages Liege Waffles that are SO GOOD and quick to pop in the toaster.
There are also a lot of pastries that I would go for to get a quick bite while traveling: muffins, banana bread, scones, or croissants. I think I just like food lol.
Oh… Now you’ve made me hungry. My go to breakfast is homemade granola on homemade creamy greek yogurt. My favourite would probably be pancakes with yogurt and maple syrup. If I could have hash browns I would have them, they are the best. Also, since this is already controversial, I have to do this.
Pancakes or Waffles?
So I don’t usually eat breakfast lunch or dinner. I just don’t get hungry as much as everyone else. But if I have breakfast it’s usually a sunny side up. Sunny side up is my favorite way to cook an egg. @UnsignedArduino regarding pancakes your wrong. Waffles
lol every time I make eggs this is how I like them. Unfortunately it takes a lot more effort than scrambling them, so I usually only make them runny on the weekends.
If I had to pick a favorite breakfast it would be runny eggs with bacon and maybe an everything bagel with cream cheese, smoked salmon, and capers on it!
