🧸 Weekly Topic: Favorite Cozy Activity

Hello everyone! Sorry that the weekly topic is a day late this week. This weekly topic is important, though, because it might provide some inspiration for your submissions for the capital G capital J Game Jam!

Since the Game Jam is now live and is the Cozy Jam (go here if you’d like more details: [Announcement] MakeCode Arcade COZY Game Jam! - Arcade - Microsoft MakeCode), I wanted to use this weekly topic for us to share some of our favorite things that make us cozy. A cozy activity usually involves little effort and is something that makes you feel relaxed and warm. Some classic cozy activities are curling into a blanket and reading, crocheting, knitting, or watching TV or a movie. Making and consuming warm drinks or warm baked goods could be considered very cozy. In general, a lot of crafty things would be considered cozy. Maybe petting an animal companion is also cozy to you! Let’s chat about it!

top things that make me cozy:

  1. in bed reading a good book while listening to music
  2. eating food
  3. creating things such as music, video games, and literature
  4. being literally freezing cold (no questions)

I really love reading while drinking something warm and tasty (like herbal tea or peppermint hot chocolate). My runner up is latch hook while listening to music or watching a show. I wasn’t feeling well yesterday and I finished the last couple rows of this owl latch hook!

I like to do my online computer engineering classes. On a rainy day. Also I like to make YouTube videos regarding stuff I learned back in college.

THIS IS PERFECT! Perfect for me to say what influenced my submission, and also perfect for letting you all guess what it’s about .

My submission was influenced by Lofi Girl on YouTube, a scrapped idea I had for TMF 2, and real life experiences.

As for the real life experiences… I went to a very cosy café once as a kid, and, I came across another kid I’d never talked to before. We talked and talked… but, after a while, we had to leave. We met each other every once in a while after that, and we became pretty good friends. We talked about more personal things, like our families and friends, rather than just the weather or whatever. That happened over time, over multiple gatherings.

Unfortunately, I haven’t talked to him in about 5 years. But, it was fun. The environment was DEFINITELY cosy, probably because every day we talked it was about 7pm-ish, and the sun would be setting. Just sitting and drinking hot chocolate may seem boring, but it can be fun, in an… innovative way. You’ll see.

As of today, my favourite cosy activity would be playing on my old Xbox 360 with my siblings. Nostalgia is closely linked with cosiness.

SO I’M NOT THE ONLY ONE?!?! (oi, that’s the first time discourse tells me that my message is unclear!)
