[Announcement] MakeCode Arcade Mini Game Jam #24 - Halloween Jam!

Hey folks!

It’s the first Monday of the month, so time for another mini game jam! Not only that, but it’s also the first Monday of what is objectively the best month of the year (October). I can’t think of a better way of celebrating that than with a Halloween themed jam!

But wait! Didn’t we already do one of those? Well, dear reader, that might be the case but I’m in charge of this rodeo and Halloween is my favorite holiday so you bet we’re having another one!

We’re looking for spooky games for this one. Your game doesn’t necessarily have to feature or take place on Halloween, but it should capture the spirit (pun intended) of the holiday. I don’t think I really need to give game examples for this one because everybody knows what we’re talking about here.

Rules

  1. Games should be built in MakeCode Arcade
  2. Games should clearly adhere to the theme without the need for any extra explanation
  3. Keep the games PG: no NSFW, offensive, or excessively violent content.
  4. You must be at least 9 years old to participate.
  5. All games must be submitted by someone who is at least 13 years old. Younger students are welcome to participate, but it must be in partnership with an adult and with parent permission.

You have two weeks to enter! The jam will close at 11:59 PM PDT on Monday, October 21st 2024

As always, all of the submitted games will be played on our Twitch channel live stream on the Friday after the game jam ends (October 25th, 2024 at 1:00PT).

Submit your games by posting them in this thread!

my halloween jam entry. Contains 18 anomalies, ONE OF THEM BEING A JUMPSCARE >:) have fun, and have that finger hovering over the restart button at ALL times. The Exit 0 is always safe, no anomalies

Hey y’all! Happy Halloween! Here’s a very small Corn Maze game!
Corn Maze V1.5
You can make any size of maze you want up to 127 x 127! Good luck solving big ones!

As for technical innovation, Here is the code for generating an empty Tilemap of any size! (Up to 255 x 255. After that it does a weird wrap around thing) I’ll comment the code out so make sure to read those carefully before using it! If someone wants to turn that into an extension, please do!

ive had an idea for a while of a game where there is a parasite in your head that slowly kills you but also gives you magic powers, and you must take medicine and kill enemies to prevent yourself from dying
is that halloween related enough?

wdym not show it

You aren’t going to get sued over something that was obviously shown in a game. If you were that would be absurd
