Recently Moderators have been Denying News posts with the reason, “We have enough news threads already”, I don’t know about y’all but the reason seems a little aggressive and contradicts what @KIKIvsIT has said in the past:

The MakeCode team talked about this internally and we decided that it’s good to have a couple of different news sources to represent mutlitple sides. If creating news channels becomes a trend, then we will combine them into a single MCNN thread, but for now, get to reporting!

@richard has responded to the drama in the chatting area have fun thread, mentioning about it being off topic:

@MeatballDev I don’t think there is enough demand to create a new meta-topic for news items.

The feedback we’ve consistently gotten from users is that people want less off-topic posts cluttering the forum. This forum is for posting games, asking questions, sharing tips, etc. It’s not intended to be a subreddit or a dumping ground for memes or non-makecode related topics.

That being said, we do also want the forum to be a fun place! That’s why we sometimes let threads that are less on topic through. We’re still trying to find the right balance, so bear with us if the moderation seems a little inconsistent at times.

Also, and I promise this isn’t specific to you but a message to all the people on the forum who enjoy creating lots of topics, you’re much more likely to get one of those through if you do it once in a blue moon instead of many times a week.

But 8-Bit news Is a way on topic with promoting the games of others, sharing Makecode memes, and giving the latest Makecode Info

New Game Jam
Its a new month so we all know what that means, a brand new Game Jam, And we have a spooky one, The Halloween Jam, Make sure to submit your games because the clock is ticking with 10 days left, I will personally play the games submitted to decide an Unofficial Winner that Gets Promoted

Hey folks!

It’s the first Monday of the month, so time for another mini game jam! Not only that, but it’s also the first Monday of what is objectively the best month of the year (October). I can’t think of a better way of celebrating that than with a Halloween themed jam!

But wait! Didn’t we already do one of those ? Well, dear reader, that might be the case but I’m in charge of this rodeo and Halloween is my favorite holiday so you bet we’re having another one!

We’re looking for spooky games for this one. Your game doesn’t necessarily have to feature or take place on Halloween, but it should capture the spirit (pun intended) of the holiday. I don’t think I really need to give game examples for this one because everybody knows what we’re talking about here.

Rules

1. Games should be built in MakeCode Arcade
2. Games should clearly adhere to the theme without the need for any extra explanation
3. Keep the games PG: no NSFW, offensive, or excessively violent content.
4. You must be at least 9 years old to participate.
5. All games must be submitted by someone who is at least 13 years old. Younger students are welcome to participate, but it must be in partnership with an adult and with parent permission.

You have two weeks to enter! The jam will close at 11:59 PM PDT on Monday, October 21st 2024

As always, all of the submitted games will be played on our Twitch channel live stream on the Friday after the game jam ends (October 25th, 2024 at 1:00PT).
