[Announcement] Planned downtime for MakeCode editors on 06/15/2024

UPDATE: Downtime is complete! Thanks for your patience!

Hey folks!

We’re going to be making some updates to our cloud this weekend and as a result we will have a brief period of planned downtime for all MakeCode editors. This downtime will not affect this forum, but all other MakeCode sites will be down for about half an hour.

  • When: Saturday, June 15th, 2024 at 10:00 AM PST (5:00 PM GMT)
  • Downtime: We expect the MakeCode cloud to be down for 15-30 minutes.
  • Service Resumption: All services should be fully operational by 10:30 AM PST.
  • Data Consistency: There should be no data consistency issues. The cloud will start syncing from local devices once it is back online for logged-in users.
  • Non-logged in Users: Existing users who are not logged in will not notice any changes, except that sharing or using extensions will not work during this period.
  • New Users: New users will be unable to access the site during the 15-30 minute downtime.

If makecode was already open / in-use before the maintenance starts, would it still work? (At least for playing the game itself).
