Celeste Demake Devlog

I’ll be remaking Celeste in makecode. No, not the pico-8/classic version, the main game. I’ll be making the physics engine and some tilemaps, but most of the rest will be for anyone who wants to help.

The game will be in block code and using the pico-8 palette (I will have a link with the palette + 16th color already applied soon) and I will hopefully have the physics done within a few weeks.

I have a color expansion thingy!

yeah no, not to be a hater or anything but this is way beyond the scope of makecode it does not have the physical capabilities first colors it has WAYY more than 16 colors(including transparent) and second the sheer size of the game the game is in GIGABYTES some of the largest make code games are 3 mb of file size and 3 who even is spending all of their time on porting level assets and such.

no it’s not. shush

it literally was originally a pico 8 game

Yeah.. now actually looking more into the 16th color that won’t really work so I’ll edit the palette to work with 15, @mod could one of you edit to remove " + 16th color"?

Also note for sprite porting: i will use the animation extension (forgot what it’s called) so make them in images instead animations

if you use the color fading extension, you can swap out a color with another mid-game. So if there’s a color that’s not being used at the moment, you can get another color!

and I would recommend using it bc celeste would be hard to make with only 16 colors!

Another reason you should

You just have to download the sprites and make the tilemaps (preferably in Tiled), then paste them using my github repo and yay.

Technically the only hard part is making the maps. Also I will be attempting to compress the data even more later.

that alone has 5 fps on my Chromebook, it’s not my main device but if it’s that laggy on there adding the rest of the game would be unplayable.

yes maybe some unless I get somthing better

Well I could make pvz look a m a z i n g with 16 colors
