I love that game. I thought I saw something like it called Google Chat 1.0 in the summer, but I don’t see it anymore.
so @scamma is not real??? then why. is everyone talking about???
They are real.
Also on backround instruments, dont make then too loud, just loud enough to be noticed but quieter then the main melody
another correction thanks to invalid, the explosion isnt a backround instrument its a beat.
This is really well made! But reading this makes me want to add some key things you missed.
#1 - Priority
Don’t go on adding everything willy-nilly. While the rhythm (though not entirely necessary but helpful) is important, your priority should be a base! The base notes tend to be long sections of notes, usually to give a tone to the music you are creating. If you want an example of a base, go see my song Beheaded on the Free Music topic! If you want an example of NO base, go check out Happy Reset on the same topic!
#2 - Instrumentation
This one is a little bit of a suggestion since this can still be up to you for your works, but it’s as follows; Be careful on what instruments do what. The dog is an all-rounder, you can hear it almost everywhere–While instead, the Computer is much more functional away from the bottom, more useful when used at a higher pitch! Same with the kitten, the duck, the cherry, they all have unique ways they can and probably shouldn’t be used.
#3 - Backgrounds
While they are called background, some notes serve VITAL differences!! For example, the explosion is not a background, it’s a beat. Why is this important? The explosion is the only beat in this set, so it’s a very important thing to master. Take your time to learn it and you will see it’s VERY important to the song if you take your time to make sure it sounds right.
#4 - Time & Signature
Your songs don’t actually need to be mega long, in fact, most songs I’ve made for Hebes and Zombies of God barely stood past 1 minute each! They can be whatever you choose, but what can matter greatly is your balance of Time Signature. This determines how many notes can fit on one block of music. The default is 4 beats, 1 measure. You can change this to 4 beats, 3 measures to create 3/4 that fits perfectly! (Though you should just stick to 4 beats, 4 measures.)
#5 - Scale
Just for beginners, until you study things like Music Theory, PLEASE do not use any sharps or flats. If you would like your songs to have a more “evil” feel like my songs, you can look up Minor Scales, which are sets of notes that you can use to give that feeling! Using no sharps or flats and starting on C is the C Major Scale, a very easy-to-work with scale that sounds good!
Like I said, lovely work @Reflectfr! Also thanks for @randomuser for asking you to do this! Lovely work!
Thanks!
Okay I’ll be serious this time.
Scamma was a fictional character created by ChimbroDaPro to be the antagonist of his game jam game: The MakeCode Forums. He later made three other games in the series with each one diving deeper into scamma’s story.
I’m only pretending he was real because most of the users that were in the games aren’t active anymore so it wouldn’t be that unrealistic that there actually was someone called scamma and that everything in the games actually happened… Sorry.
I think it looks cool
How in the slick do you change the time sig
I have another tip:
DONT SPAM EVERY INSTRUMENT AT ONCE
If you do this, your song will sound TERRIBLE!
2nd tip, DONT CLASH NOTES
If you put to notes RIGHT next to each other it will sound bad! This is fine in some cases, but don’t do it a lot!
3rd tip, GOOD instrument choice
Some instruments are higher, lower, and quieter than others
If you use a bunch of cats in the high sections it will probably sound annoying and hurt your ears because of how high the sound is, also the fish instrument is 1 octave lower I’m pretty sure, and the cat is 1 octave higher, the burger is also 1 octave lower (preeeeetty sure) plus since the fish has a slight delay, using the, for eighth notes won’t sound that well. And the duck instrument is REALLY loud and also has a kinda delay/echo or something I can’t really describe. So using it a lot may also hurt someone’s ears.
This is mainly my opinion on making songs but I feel like these tips are alright. Correct me if I’m wrong on some of them
Great tips bro
do you play piano?
So guys, I’ve been deciding that I should start learning more about MakeCode blocks programming and the basics of game making. Does anyone know of any good skill maps, courses, or whatever to help me learn more about these skills? (And no, im not asking you to teach me, but it’s fine if you want to…
)
I’d say first have a game idea in mind or something you want to make, something small, then try making it yourself and see how it ends up. When you’re done post it on the forums and ask for feedback. Myself and many others can point out things that you’re doing good or could do better.
Or you could go the route I went where I taught myself by watching streams, and looking at other people’s code and see how I could implement it into my own projects. I never once used a built in makecode tutorial or skillmap, but that’s just how I learned. Just do what you feel helps you learn the most and you’ll be a lot better at coding in no time!
I DOOOO! TOTALLY! AND FOR SINCE I WAS IN KINDERGARTEN! A loong way from now…
