Why is this a thing now? what could POSSIBLY be the point of doing this? its so uncomfortable, why would you change a perfectly functional part of the UI that’s been around for long enough to be muscle memory at this point? This is just so utterly dumb and useless.
I do know it was discourse who changed it and not the makecode team.
also @fartmaster9591 your pfp is michael scott from the office, im pretty sure

Recently, I’ve been seeing a massive upsurge in unofficial game jams on the forums, while that is usually great and epic if the host can fully pull it off (e.g., Unique-A-Thon). The influx of that kind has gotten really, really overwhelming, much more than I ever expected to see, and each of them has attracted a lot of hype and attention as well. Unfortunately, as far as I could tell, the vast majority of those game jams usually don’t get a happy ending. There are several reasons for these scenarios occurring,

From someone with experience in this field of expertise (Coder King), usually hosting an unofficial game jam while many others are simultaneously occurring is not a good idea. The traffic jam that ensues between competition topics will create tension in your contestants, who now feel like they are pressured to submit different quality projects to different game jams at once. Some people don’t have the time to do all of that; they have an irl life, you know, stuff like academics and touching grass is important. This can result in mass forfeiture in your competition pool.

My advice? It mostly just falls on the whole “avoid traffic” concept, and don’t announce + kickstart your competitions in the middle of the school year (very self-explanatory). Rather, you ought to pick a time when almost everyone is going to be on a break from academics, like during the summer or something. Also, it might not be wise to start a competition during a time when an actual official game jam is happening, which always garners a ton of attention, much more than what the CK series could ever be.

Just my 2 cents ofc.
