RIDDLE PACK #6

Alrighty then, since tomorrow is my HS graduation, I decided to type out this point on Wednesday, 06/24/2026, rather than waiting till the typical Thursday date (in which I might be in a bit of a time crunch). I’m probably going to continue using Thursday for future riddle packs after this, though.

In this case, I posted 4 riddles for you, forum members, to solve to the best of your abilities. Oftentimes, I just post 3 riddles per pack. But since I had quite a lot of time on my hands over the past weekend, I was able to squeeze in an additional riddle into my collection.

Same deal as usual, the riddles are ranked from easiest to hardest (with ratings), and there are hints for those really struggling on any particular riddle. Welp. That’s enough yap for the introduction, then, good luck with the below 4!

Riddle #1: Split-Second Curtains :window:

Difficulty: EASY (1.5/5)

The Riddle Itself

I am that set of trusty built-in windows that everybody needs to sense.

Suddenly, the curtains above and below close up on their own, a minor hindrance indeed.

Sub 1 second later, and then everything unfolds on its own. Things are now quite clear.

But I am not done yet; in fact, I repeat this act many times every single day.

What am I?

BIG HINT #1

Hint: my act is often more natural and involuntary than you might think on the get-go.

Answer To Riddle #1

A: The answer is an eye. The set of built-in windows is a metaphor for how the eye is the main way for us to view all the stuff in the outside world. The curtains’ closing up and unfolding refer to the act of blinking, where the eyelids (curtains) close in + cover up your eyesight for only a couple of milliseconds. Oftentimes, you will be eyeblinking multiple times per minute (15 - 20 on average), which also explains the whole “repeat this act many times every single day”, most of them outside of your control.

Riddle #2: The Mysterious Break-In :door:

Difficulty: MEDIUM (2/5)

The Riddle Itself

A serial killer is running amok in the town, and the mayor alerts all town civilians to stay in their residences during the nighttime and lock up every possible entry point airtight, then surround themselves with people whom they can trust. The serial killer was infamous for forcefully/aggressively breaking into homes after all.

One civilian, Jim, followed this demand and surrounded himself with a man whom he deeply trusted, who was his childhood friend, Chuck, who helped/assisted him secure his house. Chuck was just very recently evicted and needed a place to stay, so he was willing to do it. Chuck also offered to stake out and watch the security cameras across the house, capturing every last room with their angles.

Several hours later and the next morning, a neighbor came to check in, and there was a severe shock: Jim was found dead in his bedroom’s closet, having been inflicted with multiple stab wounds. The coroner instantly ruled foul play was involved.

Chuck was still unconscious on the living room couch when they found Jim’s body; he says that things were working fine before someone (from behind) had knocked him over the head, putting him out cold, so he couldn’t remember much. All security cameras were destroyed. However, none of the secure entryways into the house were disturbed at all. What had happened?

BIG HINT #2

Hint: Just why did Chuck live to tell the tale and not Jim?

Answer To Riddle #2

A: Chuck was the serial killer. The reason that no secured entryways were disturbed was that Chuck was already in the house while Jim was still alive, so he had no need to break down a door/window or anything like that. Also, there is quite a loophole with Chuck’s story of the supposed serial killer knocking him out; why was his life spared and not Jim’s? You would think that the killer would have made sure that no living witnesses were left behind, especially with all the stab wounds on Jim. Also, the security cameras should have caught the intruder if everything was truly “working fine” beforehand. Jim just chose the wrong person to trust this time around.

Riddle #3: The Stoic One :man_standing:

Difficulty: MEDIUM (3.5/5)

The Riddle Itself

Look, kids, try and reach the top, conquer me, I dare you.

Come. Read your history textbook to me; it might be nostalgic to my stoic self.

Witness. My elegant hair flies through in the first half; I start going bald in the second half.

Hear. If you humans want to thrive in this world, I request some fresh water.

What am I?

BIG HINT #3

Hint: You might find me standing in packs when hiking.

Answer To Riddle #3

A: The answer is a Tree. In this current era, children and other humans continue to pursue the challenges of climbing trees and reaching their top/peak. We get our paper from trees, so a textbook written on paper may be something. In the Spring and Summer seasons (the first half of a year), a tree can have its leaves in full display, which can look very pretty (“elegant hair” = leaves). However, as time transitions to Autumn and Winter, leaves will naturally begin falling off till there are no more on display. Trees also produce a lot of oxygen for us, which is vital to survival on Earth; it’s very good to make sure that trees remain alive by giving them water and nutrients.

Riddle #4: The Three Keys :key: :key: :key:

Difficulty: HARD (5/5)

(:up_arrow: A different subset of difficulty, you may need a pen and paper for this one)

The Riddle Itself

You want to join a secret club/organization in your city, an organization containing the best and brightest minds in your country. After several months of networking/referrals, you manage to get the location of the hideout/headquarters of the organization. When you reach the entrance of the hideout, you come across a trio of bouncers, who each give you a separate piece of paper. Each piece of paper includes a series of 12 single-digit numbers; those collections of 12 numbers are otherwise considered “keys”.

Key 1 = 0 - 6 - 2 - 4 - 3 - 5 - 8 - 7 - 9 - 7 - 0 - 1

Key 2 = 1 - 4 - 2 - 1 - 5 - 8 - 7 - 9 - 6 - 0 - 3 - 2

Key 3 = 3 - 1 - 7 - 0 - 4 - 1 - 5 - 6 - 8 - 2 - 9 - 9

The bouncers then ask you to tell them a specific 4-digit passcode based only on the 3 keys that they showed you. If you get it correct, you will be allowed into the organization’s HQ to join. If you get a single digit wrong, you will be thrown out.

To also assist you, they said that there is a special relative order (feel free to search up what that means) that exists universally in each of the 3 keys; the passcode is especially dependent on that fact. There is only 1 correct answer. So what should you say?

BIG HINT #4

Hint: emphasis on relative order, there’s some nuance involved. Nothing more to say here.

Answer To Riddle #4

A: The correct passcode is 4589. Although the list indices of the following numbers are different for each key, there is a specific relative order that each of them has (as the bouncers had said). In every key, the “4” always comes before the “5”, the “5” always comes before the “8”, and the “8” always comes before the “9”. There are several other numbers scattered in between the “4”s, “5”s, “8”s, and “9”s, but they really don’t mean much; they just exist to mess with you.

Sometime about 12 hours before your post was posted was the first notification I got about having one of my posts reacted to, so probably only a day or 2 ago. Of course the mods can tell us, and I’m definitely going to ask on stream about this!!

@richard from what I can tell you can add as many emojis to the reaction options as you want, but if you can’t then I don’t think I’ve seen too many people use :hugs: so that could be a candidate for replacing with maybe :duck: which is personally my favorite of the custom emojis
:duck::duck::duck:

Pro Tip for Organization

(coming from a non-pro)

If you have trouble with variables and keeping track of what type they are, like if you mistake a Boolean variable for a Numerical variable, then here is a pro tip.

If you ever have trouble with this, label your variables like this:

  • Lists and Sounds use “{}”
  • Numbers use “()”
  • Sprites, Images, Animations use “[ ]”
  • Text use “||”
  • Booleans use “<>”

Using this rule will make it easier to organize and figure out what type of variable is which if you ever use it in your code.

The MakeCode Forums games are finished. The story is done. No more. You’re welcome for the answer.

Hi! The MakeCode Forums is a COMPLETED trilogy that I made about two years ago, it is not exactly dead (tho ig it depends on what you define as dead), but the game is done. A new one will not be being released.
