@RobbyZero , I do a variety of work with the MakeCode team. In addition to helping with moderating the forum, I write high school (and, soon, middle school) curriculum that uses MakeCode Arcade. I also help on occasion with some simple bug fixes in the MakeCode Arcade code. (The engineering team at Microsoft is way better at it than I am, so I don’t do anything complex.) I also serve as a bit of a cheerleader for the MakeCode team. I talk about them and their work everywhere I go, just trying to spread the word about this great platform and the wonderful community (that’s all of you!) that supports it. I was at a local event in Detroit at the gorgeous Microsoft Innovation Hub last weekend, where I talked about MakeCode Arcade with a few dozen educators from the metro Detroit area.
Away from the official MakeCode team, I work with other organizations to bring the MakeCode experience into classrooms. I also volunteer time at a local high school to teach an introduction to programming class with MakeCode Arcade. Of course, just like all of you, I also work on personal projects in MakeCode Arcade.
Oh … and I have a full-time job away from MakeCode, too. I literally do this for fun, because I love this team and what they do. I do get paid for some of my work affiliated with MakeCode … but most of it is just for fun.
That’s SO cool!! I hope to do that someday, to help out on the forums and spread the word! (I’ve been doing what I can for now, but I’m not at your level yet XD)
We love hearing stories about how you’re spreading the word about the MakeCode platform. Let us know!
Talk about the platform with your friends. Show off your projects at school. Talk to your teachers about what you are learning. If any of your teachers are interested in bringing MakeCode into your school, then have them reach out to us here!
I was just on a call with some of the MakeCode team yesterday, and we talked about how some of our different opportunities have come about. It’s all been very organic. Just people meeting other people through various means and then randomly talking about MakeCode. It’s really one of the most special things about this platform and this community: It’s a passion project for all of us. Just people coming together, having a good time, and sharing experiences. We all plan to keep it that way, no matter how many people we pull into this great community!
For those of y’all wondering about Missile Battlegrounds. I will disclose info about the future and updates that I have planned
First we must acknowledge the elephant in the room: 1.29
I have been promising release dates and failing to provide over and over again, one of the reasons was Overconfidence from 1.28, and the overall reason for no real progress on the update is Makecode Jank and Optimization, At the moment my code is very laggy, and i have a 1080 TI with 9 gigs of ram with a fan, even with this absolute beast of a PC i still lag a lot when editing the code for missile battlegrounds, so before I can even think about a major update i either need to Optimize the code or wait for Makecode to Optimize in general.
Now to move on with 1.28: Despite the big hype and how game changing the update was, it was rushed, I had a 2 week deadline and at times I overworked myself and all of this can be showed in the coding method and the way I implemented charged attacks, on the day of the release I was not even sleeping because I was trying to provide to the loyal fans that made this all possible, none of this would be happening with all of you, and no, Missile Battlegrounds will not be discontinued and in order to fix 1.28 and its bugs I will make a part 2 for the update releasing in october.
About the second part: Part 2 will consist of More Customization Options, Completely Revamped Menu, Blog, Dark/Light Theme, Bug Fixes, and Optimization, while it may seem easy to implement the main problem is the Menu because at the moment every single block was placed in a way to cooperate with the menu and if I screw up the entire game might break, I thank you for all the patience on these updates as I am also dealing with IRL stuff at the same time, Missile Battlegrounds has always been about improving my skills and giving something amazing to the loyal fans who have sticked with me on this journey.
The Future - 1.30: 1.30 will be the biggest update yet and will be given the name “Outposts and Fabrication”. It will turn Missile Battlegrounds into a Open World Game just like its Little Brother: Missile Battlegrounds 2: The Infinite. it will add the ability to deploy space stations and mine on planets and a lot more, this is all I have time to write (2 Hours) Byes
