I kinda feel like I’m gonna dropping out of the competition, because of having to work on a bunch of other gaming stuff and trying to figure out how to code in a cutscene for a different game and stuff like that is super difficult to balance on top of competing in the fourth coder king I don’t really have anytime to work on this.
sorry @Taser I think I’m going to drop out for several reasons:
Coneguy’s Tacostand has been making a lot of progress lately, but I will most likely not be able to release it on the 24th due to some other projects I’m working on.
Thanks for your understanding.
… Am I just going to win automatically?
Fr tho, I am so sorry taser for all the dropouts, that sucks. At some point it just has to be bad luck that everyone’s so busy!
I would offer advice but I’ve got nothing, I’ve never seen this happen before and have never really hosted a comp like this.
I think in other (larger / higher stakes) game jams, they will pause the competition until later when intrest peaks again. (Usually this would make the dedicated contestants mad as they can’t use the game they were making anymore due to having more time than the rest of the contestants, but I’d be fine with releasing my game independently if needed!) But it’s so weird that the polls showed overwhelming support…
My hope is that at least a person or two other than me is planning on submitting so we can have another round- anyone?
Anything I could do to fix this issue?
I honestly can’t even be in any competition because I suck at making games. The best I can do is Mario.
Don’t underestimate yourself like that! Your only limit is your mind, how much you think you can do! That’s what makecode is all about! (I wish I could take my own advice )
It wouldn’t matter even if I “stopped underestimating myself” because I can only make Mario games. Which is easy. You jump on enemy, the enemy gets defeated. That’s it.
then learn, I liked to look at other games’ code to figure out how to use arrays, or sprite data, or mini menus etc when i started out. I also extensively use a bunch of extensions, some of the more niche ones are great to inpire new projects and work into existing ones. Finally, don’t forget that you can search the thousands of forum post for help (which often leads to the discovery of unintentional, but highly useful info, i have so many bookmarks lol)
You never know until you try, just go along with the breeze, who knows what games you’ll make in the future.
When I started I could only make story puzzle games! (And I mean simple puzzles like ‘avoid the lava’ and ‘find the person’)
You can only learn if you try : )
But I DID try. Pixel Dash. That’s it. Pixel Dash isn’t even good, I just made a bootleg of Geometry Dash. At this point, I might make a new account called Bootleg Central or something like that.
Hmm, you could always make a spinoff! It’s like a copy of a game but a little different. Like… Geometry dash, except (There are more buttons, There are enemies, the map is random, the music is random, there are minigames)! (I tried my best, I’ve never really played the game XD)
Does this end exactly on the 24th (12 am) or sometime in the 24th?
Usually its pretty general; the end of the 24th (when it becomes the 25th) in your time zone is the final deadline, but I’ve seen him start declaring the round over as early as around noon. (Although you would probably be able to get your game in anyway!)
I can’t do it. My return is sadly not going to happen.
so… @Taser, should I still submit? (I have a demo ready to submit)
at least 4-5 submissions should suffice
we currently got 2 submissions. So mb there still could be some hope?
