Did anyone tell code.org?

code.org just sent this to me:

Any insider information on what this is about? The form is at https://share.hsforms.com/1Iz5QXiI3Saar1V47h-DSsgqs0ef so no telling who actually gets it. TEALS doesn’t manage volunteers any more. Is this out of date? Do they know?

Hi Don. Yes, TEALS is now partnering closely with several non-profits including Code.org to keep supporting CS educators with various different online resources and other programs. This is not the same formalized industry volunteering program of years past, but it sounds like Code.org is facilitating a more informal mentorship (if you look at the form, it says “the final scope of the volunteer opportunity will be up to the teacher and volunteer”).

TEALS is not just merely dead, it is really most sincerely dead.

So anyone who moved to code.org will be getting an email with a spreadsheet of volunteers and teachers by state code. Volunteers are then supposed to contact one or more teachers to see if they are needed. Basically self-organization at its finest.

Looking at my own spreadsheet I would say the vast majority of the TEALS schools didn’t apply. Same with the volunteers.
