Really excited that you guys are doing this. I feel like we are rediscovering the infancies of 3d gaming development like back in the nineties all anew.
I am also currently working on a doom like clon. Based off lodevs code.
Features:
- huuuuuge map (i did not even manage to complete designing the map yet, maybe you can help me)
- high walls and normal walls for greater variety in level design
- improved the 16 color problem by a carefully crafted 16 color double-gradient
- distance fog adding to atmosphere
- enemies (works, but no movement and some rendering problems still)
- runs decently on gamego due to performance optimisations
Working on next:
- multiple enemy types
- positioning enemies on a map instead of in javascript code
- better getting-shot and health points system
- better shooting at enemies system
- enemies coming at you
