[Extension] arcade-sprite-tilemaps

Hey folks!

Another day, another extension! This is one that @Sparks and I cooked up on Wednesday’s livestream. I present: riknoll/arcade-sprite-tilemaps!

This extension lets you set different tilemaps for different sprites. These tilemaps don’t get drawn to the screen, but they do let you set different walls and tiles to overlap for individual sprites.

For example, you could use this extension to:

  • Set different walls for the player and enemy sprites to limit the paths they can take when path following
  • Prevent players in a multiplayer game from entering each other’s territory
  • Create a hidden tilemap for just the player that you use to place tiles that trigger events or cutscenes

…and lots of other things!

Now admittedly I have not done a ton of testing on this one, but I think it should be fine. Still if you run into bugs then please post them in this thread.

Note: This extension replaces the physics engine, so it is not compatible with any other extension that overwrites the physics engine.
