Standard shortcuts:

shortcut action
e switch to eraser tool
h switch to pan tool
b OR p switch to pen tool
g switch to fill tool
m switch to marquee/select tool
u switch to rectangle tool
l switch to line tool
c switch to circle tool
- OR _ zoom out
+ OR = zoom in
x swap foreground/background colors
shift + h flip horizontal
shift + v flip vertical
[ rotate counter clockwise
] rotate clockwise
> increase cursor size
< decrease cursor size
ctrl + a select all
ctrl + c copy
ctrl + v paste
delete OR backspace delete current selection
arrow keys move selection by one pixel

Secret shortcuts:

shortcut action
Shift + 0-9A-F outline in color
Shift + R replace background color with foreground color in image (also works in tilemap editor!)

(I use replace color super often)

all of the secret shortcuts are also affected by selection, so if you only want to replace colors in part of the image just select it with the marquee tool first.

Wow, I knew about the standard shortcuts, many of them since I use Photoshop, but these are super cool, I have to try them out one day!

Hey, I have an idea!

If you type “CONEGUY” in the sprite editor, a sprite of a blue traffic cone will appear.

i have a suggestion, what about if you hold or click tab you can copy the color the cursor is currently on

@YuHayate I think holding ALT will already do what you want!

https://makecode.com/asset-editor-shortcuts (“eyedropper” turns out to be almost more useful as a search term than an actual feature)

@richard, speaking of impossible to find documentation, where is the MakeCode status page? I’ve been searching for it for a while… (you know, the one that checks if all of makecode’s dependencies are up and active)

Yes! Thanks a lot, MakeCode was seemingly down the other day and I wanted to check, but I could not find it for the life of me… I remember Richard posted it in some other help thread, but I could not find it for the life of me, no matter how hard I searched
