Im terrible at making music but i just gave up after like 5 minutes, but @InvalidProject makes some peak music, maybe she can help you?
Use InvalidProjectās music
Try to time your notes evenly; ex. having a kick drum every 4 lines, a snare every 2, and a high hat on every 1! The music in makecode relies on 4-4 time, so having a rhythm in some multiple of 4 (1, 2, 4, 8, 16) will sound best. For melodies, honestly, one way to learn how to time them right is just to experiment a lot! there is a LOT of music theory out there
Thirdly, learn what chords are. These are notes that tend to sound good together and evoke certain moods. Iām sorry I canāt explain them much myself-- iād reccomend something like this tutorial!
I myself am not that great at music, so I canāt say much beyond that but a general ākeep trying, youāll find something that works (and have fun)!ā ![]()
Hey! Here are some good tips if youāre having some trouble with music:
Like Randomuser said, you can use the basic boots-&-cats beat on each measure to keep some rhythm!
These are super important because a chaotic beat can make your music hard to listen to or follow along with. (unless you want that)
You can also use scales for reference! A lot of the time, notes can be too close and sound messy with each other, so searching up āC-Scaleā and using the notes on there as a reference can totally aid with music making! (though c-scale only really makes happy music)
From there, you can experiment with all kinds of beats, notes, and styles! It all takes time!
Thanks guys!

is this at least ok? https://arcade.makecode.com/S57010-28348-39999-76833
I love the slight touch of jazz in the first song! It sounds really sick! The second song is amazing as well, I love how only some notes in the chord changes, and the last song could be used as the base line for a simple ragtime. Keep it up! This is better than most first songs! (Being honest)
@YamJamTheGoober is right, this is quite the impressive first song! I love how much you switch up the instruments/melody and change the beat around, it avoids falling into the ālooping with slight changesā trap a lot of video game music falls into.
Holy failed cast on null thatās the same trap I fell for!
