RizeUpDev’s OSTs

This topic is about my music/songs I make in MakeCode Arcade! Here is one I made!

This was honestly the closest-to-a-song music which I’ve made, and its not long. 1 minute and 12 seconds. But like this, I’ll be releasing more OSTs here! Especially volumes. Could somebody try and explain how to make good music in this topic?

I just put together whatever sounds good

Explaining how to make good music is pretty hard… but what I would say is search up musical key signatures and scales, then only use notes from that scale. Instead of placing a note randomly to make a melody which some people might do, I think you should instead try and think of a nice melody in your head and try and remake it in the editor. It might take some tries to get the intervals right, so if you can’t then I would try using a tuner to find the notes you’re humming. Once you do that you can simply find where the notes would be on the staff and voila! You’ve got yourself a nice tune! And as for the harmony… yeah good luck I don’t have any tips for that. OR you could just take some music classes!

do you have any examples? I’ve been using Chrome Music Lab but it’s obviously not the best choice…

uhhhhhhhh tuner lite? Or just search up free online tuner on google or whatever browser you use…

What about the icons in the song editor? Could you tell me how to utilize each of them for a song?

Icons? If you mean the instruments then…
I put the dog, burger, and fish into one category: soft instruments. Also the dog is LITERALLY just the burger, but one octave(8 notes) higher! So I would recommend using the burger as the bass and dog as the melody. The fish is also the same as the burger but louder and also has some sustain I think. These “soft instruments” are clear and don’t sound “scratchy”, unlike the “hard instruments”. I put the cherry, lemon, duck, and computer into the same category since they all sound relatively the same except for pitch. Whereas the duck has some sustain as well. And for the rest (cat car and drums), I don’t have a category but I would recommend not using them too much except for the drums. I usually use the duck, dog, or lemon for the melody for some reason, and also they are the loudest. And for the cherry, burger, and computer I use for the bass line or harmony. As for the fish I only use for the background, usually in the bass clef along with the burger to make a sort of “rumbling” sound sometimes or the fish just to support the melody and bass. The rest I don’t use much except for drums and if you’re making a calm song I would usually use dog for the melody, and burger for the bass + nothing else.
