Help with character movement and animation

I had an idea for a fighting game concept and I just can’t seem to get the game working properly. For now the movement is snappy and feels rough, and spamming the attack button will queue up the button presses meaning the game will execute attacks even when you stop pressing (this is because i use the pause block). Can anyone look into this and figure out why this is the case and suggest improvements? Maybe even fix the game. Thanks in advance
