Holiday Reminder

Hello, all!

As we finish out the holiday season, we’re going to have even fewer mods than usual, which means that posts might take longer to approve. In an effort to keep things moving smoothly, here are a few things you can help us with until January.

When posting, please try to avoid:

  1. Adding external links to your posts (these posts may not be approved)
  2. Posts that have nothing to do with MakeCode (these likely will not be approved)
  3. Unnecessarily reviving old topics (these may not be approved)
  4. Saying anything negative that is not also constructive (these will not be approved)

And note that:

  1. Adding more than 2 or 3 links to a single post may further delay approval

While these are good guidelines to follow all year long, we will be quite strict on them in the coming weeks.

Thanks for reading…and happy MakeCoding!

? or is it just other random things that count

We can also consider this as necroposting topics
It can be good or bad.

Anything MakeCode should be fine, but it takes a long time to scour YouTube videos for inappropriate info or page through personal websites. If we can’t approve a post in 5-minutes, we probably won’t approve it at all over the holidays.

We agree that it can be good or bad…but lately we’ve seen people reviving topics just to make snarky or unnecessary comments, and that’s only holding up legitimate posts. In general, we’ll probably just delete all snarky or unnecessary posts altogether.

That will be a nice change if there weren’t so many revived topics. Though I must say, some of my favorite games were found because a random person revived it.

Questions:

And again your still putting a hold on applications, right?

What is considered Unnecessary?

I just wanted to start working on a tutorial now that I have time :sob:
I’ll probably make it anyway and you guys just approve it whenever you have time

For example, commenting

  • “This game is too hard and the levels are boring” or
  • “I had a puppy when I was 12”

on someone’s year-old-game.

Posts on old topics that would be allowed include things like:

  • “How did you get your enemies to XYZ”
  • “I just played this and you did such a good job making it. Can you make more?”

In general, ALL posts on this forum should be:

  • kind
  • helpful
  • inquisitive and/or
  • directly related to MakeCode

anything else probably belongs on a different platform

I’m not sure what you mean by putting a hold on applications.

You know? Mod applications?
Where you do the whole thing describing why you should be a mod?

I didn’t know that was a thing. We don’t allow for outside mods…only MakeCode employees and a couple of special exceptions that include people who have worked with us in the past.
