So the forum need serious help.
It went from a fantastic place to talk and share about coding to a place with random off-topic stuff and arguments that have no reasoning.
All this stuff even made @PixelDoodle and several other people leave
So I have an idea for a way too fix this and insure a better future for the forum.
It will not be easy but I at least want to try to save the forum.
So my plan has 5 steps Step One
This step is for the @moderators sorry about the ping
So I’m begging you guys to stop approving random stuff that’s off-topic or just an argument waiting to happen. Step Two
This step is for everybody
PLEASE stop posting random stuff like “Platformer Wars” or “POST YOUR GAMES HERE” if you wanna see some games LITERALLY LOOK AROUND FOR LIKE 5 MINUTES AND YOU’LL FIND A TON (sorry about the caps I’m just really annoyed)
Also Please stop posting like 8,000 devlogs for your games All you need is one or two topics about your game. Step Three
This is for New people
Before you make like 800 off-topic blog posts please post at least one game or make your first post a game. Don’t just treat this forum like a Social media. Step Four
This is for everybody
Please If your post is not relevant to the discussion DON’T POST IT.
Also when you post a game make sure to maybe describe it or give some kind of How to play or something. Step Five
Step five is really simple: Be Kind
Please make it so that when people check the forum it makes them happy not sad. Poll Time
Did you read this?
YES
thank you for saying this
ive been watching this forum for a long time before i got around to joining, but i have been seeing it go downhill overtime, and i agree it needs some sort of reform or something.
Do try to understand that there’s a fine line between moderating and dictating. We want to allow our users freedom to moderate themselves in most instances and we don’t want to remove all friendliness/playfulness from the discussion groups. For the most part, we only decline posts that go against our terms of service, but the majority of us have stopped approving new posts that feel repetitive or unnecessary. We have also created a handful of threads that can act as catch-alls for things like “New Games”, “Celebrations”, and “Comings and Goings.”
Don’t underestimate how much power y’all have as forum members in shaping what people believe is and isn’t okay in their posts!
In the end, this is the MakeCode forum. Except for the weekly off-topic topics, there’s no great reason someone would need to post about their cat or a trip to the store here. This forum is for programming purposes only…and every off topic post is just another number of minutes that moderators have to spend monitoring the forum instead of improving our product
