I think I just finished my horror game (I’m always trying to make it better, help me). Anyway, it might have some bugs, and the graphics are not the best, but really…I tried. I made a game like this one, but I lost it during the purge (I was going through all my files and deleting the ones that I didn’t need). Here it is: https://arcade.makecode.com/S55650-45171-95441-67427
It’s looking pretty good so far!
One thing I have been playing around with is another version of the raycasting extension that lets you add a floor and ceiling to the tilemap. It’s great for making enclosed spaces and buildings. Some variety in width of the passageways and possibly some rooms might be nice too. (but idk if that would detract from the appearance and horror aspect of it)
Here is the link to the updated tilemap extension: 3d Rendering with floor and ceiling! - #8 by neintoes
Here’s an example of a game that I made a year ago that was kinda like yours but with the floor and ceiling raycasting extension: https://arcade.makecode.com/S71331-42439-19644-88443
The jump scare got me
.
That’s the best thing a game can have!! ![]()
Gameplay: Nice, the 3D extension always makes for very unique gameplay styles! One thing I’d like to see added is some way for the player to tell the enemy is nearby (Maybe a visual heartbeat effect, sound effects that play when they’re near, or the colors fading to be darker) That way the player can feel more scared. ![]()
Art:
I enjoyed the graphics; I’m biased, I greatly enjoy Makecode horror games with the default sprite images, because it seems quite off-putting and unsettling!
Story: Great!! The tip about the red and yellow faces is very foreboding and makes the player quite uneasy when they see a yellow one.
Other: I was only able to play the first level because I can’t figure out how to use the door to the second
I’m so happy you all like the game. I couldn’t figure out the extension though lol. The heart beat idea is good. I’m going to try to add that. ![]()
