I felt like an Olympics themed game jam could be fun, so I had an idea.
Google had this fun little doodle up called champion island. It’s a descent web-based game, and it mainly was going around a little island, playing sport minigames, collecting scrolls, and chatting with the locals.

Anywho, I was thinking that people could upload minigames to MakeCode during July and August, and then it would all be stitched together in the end to form a huge island where you can play all these different sports themed minigames. It would also be a fun way for everyone to show off their favorite sports! Would need some type of organization though to find out who’s doing what sport and all that.
I don’t know anything about making an unofficial game jam and this is probably one of the most random and least thought-out ideas ever, but still…

Now this is a great idea! You could also include some fantasy sports as well
We could have a “Hall of fame” kind of game which is an island housing every game jam winner to date (or at least a mini game version of them)!
The couple of things that we can start with
1.) The island: Where we will put the minigames
2.) Main character: The character the player will be controlling.
3.) Clans: I feel like having you join a clan could be fun. I’m not sure if a multiplayer leaderboard would work, but I at least want you to be able to find your clan’s hideout and help them win. We could even make it countries in honor of the Olympics.
4.) Starting game: We want a game to start with a simple game just to sorta have the feel. Champion island starts with a game of ping pong. I’m not quite sure what the opening game will be and I would love to hear ideas.
Any help on these is appreciated!
After those are ready, we can start the minigames.
