My game jam ideas

In this post I’ll share some of my game jam ideas and I’d like to hear yours.

  • Pi Jam
    A gam jam all about pi and mathematics. In this game jam you could make a game about a pi traveling around the world trying to collect its numbers. That was just an idea though you could make anything you want.

  • Zero Jam
    This idea is focused around nothing. You could make a game about a number trying to escape the void of (you guessed it) Zero (aka nothingness)

  • Extension Jam
    This idea is focused around using extensions in unique ways. You could make a game about making a game with extensions. The ideas are limitless when you have extensions.

Those are my ideas and I’d love to hear all of yours.

I think number jam could be a good one there’s a lot of cool numbers outside of pi and 0 such as root -1
could also be interpreted as theorems and stuff
Steampunk game jam would also be cool

I love these! Would love to see a math-themed game jam in March to celebrate Pi Day in the U.S.

What about a game jam around the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics for August’s mini jam? Someone could make a clone of Konami’s Track & Field! :smiling_face:

I also would love for the board game mini jam to be a recurring theme every six months or so.

You know how @richard added those new emojis to the forums? Like the :monkey: and :boom:? Well, I had an idea that the community can make their own emoji’s that can be used on the forum! It would be super cool, and I’ve had a lot of ideas of one’s I’d make. But I don’t want to put too much pressure on the moderator team with this idea, so maybe there should be a way to only get THE BEST emoji’s to be put on the forums. Ok, I know it doesn’t roll as well off the tongue as Game Jam, so how about

EMOJI COMPETITION!!!

Yes indeeed! An emoji making competition! All you gotta do is make a really cool emoji!!! Then maybe the top 3 or the honourable mentions will be put in as forum emojis! To start off, here’s one that I made cuz I think it looks cool:

I had an idea. What if there is a MakeCode Jam for assets. We could have a few categories and two or three winners from each one could be selected to be in the arcade gallery. Categories could be like: Music, sprite, palette, etc…

So, I had a jam idea that I think would be super cool to do for a ranked game jam.
I was thinking about using itch.io for an arcade jam, but I couldn’t think of anything and that’s when I remembered my old project that gives you unique thing to draw. So, I put my single brain cell to good use and thought what if in a jam everybody has their own theme. During a live stream everybody can give their ideas, and we could give a random theme from the chat to someone who said they will enter. But, instead of it being ranked on how good the game is it’s ranked on how well it fits the theme and only that.
I think that would be cool so everybody can get their idea in a jam.
