Im making a dungeon crawler game, but I was getting stuck on drawing the player. Here he is from the front:
(sorry for bad quality)
But as you can see he has no hands! Thats because i just wasnt able to draw anything that looks like a hand from this angle. i have made a side view that Im quite happy with, but from the back and front i have nothing.
Could anyone please try to help me?
What i would need
animations for arms with:
nothing
a torch
a sword
The animations should be 8 frames with 10fps (repeat every 100ms), in all 4 directions
For the left arm, copy the right arm and swap the first four frames with the last four frames.
For standing still im using the fourth frame but you can change that.
Here is the art i have made(press A to rotate): https://makecode.com/_ctfRj1RJW37x

Who says it’s bad? Besides yourself? I think it’s a good reference image of what character you want to make!

Oh i see now. On the monitor i was posting this from it looked a bit blurrry and the left eye was two or three pixels(not makecode pixels) thinner.

Wait ya. Now that I look at it. Why is the right eye a bit bigger for some reason. Even though it’s not makecode pixels

Well the main problem is when you put a sword in one hand and a torch in the other and add animation. The game is top down so the “camera” is at an angle. When the player walks, the arms move and i had a lot of trouble making the sword not look like its shrinking and growing, not sure how to explain that otherwise.

well i also feel like drawing the sword in the hand is difficult when i think about it. but why not strap the sword on his back? it will be easier to draw that way.

Well thats a good idea when youre just walking around but when youre in the middle of combat you usually dont put your sword away after each swing… Also i planned to have two “active weapons” you can swap withoud opening your inventory and i wanted to strap the one youre not currently using to his back.
