INDECISIVE (Dev-log)

I’m making a Dev-log for this game i’ve been working on recently to document and hopefully get feedback on.

INDECISIVE is a 2D Platformer that will combine 6 platformer genres into one game. I currently have

(Puzzle), (Shooter), (Immersive Simulator), (Open-world), (Management (eg: a Factorio kinda game)), and (Story) as game genres.

My plan is to create separate projects and each one be focused on the genre (Except for story because that will be the game itself and not a separate genre.).

I also added Rhythm game to the genres but I’m keeping it as an easter egg, mainly because I don’t see it fitting in with the other genres.

Heres the progress I currently have.

(Rhythm genre): https://arcade.makecode.com/S27358-40793-89807-07717 (Please ignore the messy code. I’ll clean it up pretty soon.)

(Management): https://arcade.makecode.com/S45810-03699-19633-36302 (You can walk past the sides of the screen to see the other areas and press (A) to interact with things.)

Dev-log #2 (RHYTHM)

I added a animation to switching directions based on wether your down, idle, or up to make it look slightly smoother.

Made the (UP) button lift an antenna thats one the side you’re facing.

And am currently trying to make the (Left & right) buttons have a kick move.

Updated version of RHYTHM) project: https://arcade.makecode.com/S27358-40793-89807-07717

I also just realized that I didn’t explain the goal/mechanics of any genre. So I’ll try my best to explain the Rhythm one for now.

The player can “dance” using the WASD/Arrow keys and each direction has a different move. if you do a sequence of moves (eg: Left Kick, Down) it will register as a different move.

the objective is to do the move in sequence to the song. With UI to show which move the player needs to do but not the specific button/button sequence.

(Think of it as a mix between “FNF” and the “Just Dance” series).

more fun stuff

Dev-log #3 (SHOOTER)

I began work on the shooter genre and after a bit of code I added the following.

  1. Made player sprite and movement.
  2. Added gun sprite and fixed it to the player position.
  3. Added reload animation to the gun and falling shell particles.
  4. Made a shoot function to the gun that created a falling shell particle and a bullet
  5. And the last thing i did was destroy the bullets on wall collision.

Heres the current progress on the (SHOOTER) project: https://arcade.makecode.com/S88246-52169-59059-55681 (Move with Left/right and press (UP) to jump, Shoot with the (A) button and (Down)+(A) to reload.)

Im still working on the goal/objective of the shooter. But for now the goal is to clear the area of any hostile enemies before moving on to the next level. The more you progress in each level the harder it gets.

even more fun stuff
