It looks like the left joycon of a Nintendo Switch. That means probably not.

Im revivifying this Topic because of one reason

Makecodes Biggest problem

Limiting Coding Capability

A big reason why i want to step away from makecode is that its limits pared with Most people using blocks makes it a good start for any coder, but you will hit a wall where you cant really do much
ive already hit my checklist of things i wanted to do here

Make a Smash clone
Grappling hook
Rpg
and a bullethell

And now i don’t know what to do next so i said i left

I still feel If there should be a more advanced version of makecode one without a color limit a storage limit and IT SHOULD NOT HAVE BLOCKS

Blocks have there ups and downs

Upsides:
easy to use
can visualize code
Wont miss a special character and wonder for 5 hours why its not working

DownSides
Not many coding softwares use Blocks
you only get to see whats given to you
Blocks are Very specialised for whatever software your using
Ie: Makecode Velocity and Scratches Steps

Makcode Arcade (currently)
Is a stepping stone to further Peoples enjoyment of creating Video games but it leads you to a dead end without another stone to guide you to the next part of your path. A advanced Version of makecode would Solve this to a great extent having another stone on the path to creativity

While you can do a lot with makecode
(i’m not going to cite every 3d renderer on the site but imagine i did)
I feel you should be able to do a lot more

With that being said i’m leaving MakeCade Forever
Knighted will not get another update here and I am leaving to a different software

My next Browser based coding software will be. . .

FlowLabs
You thought i was gonna say scratch

Its Visual coding based and has not real upper limit that i know of so im gonna try it next

Makecode arcade is literally geared towards 5 graders, it would not make sense for it to not include blocks. Not to mention, there’s a javascript editor for MakeCode too…

true.

I logged back in just to write this
Understand im talking about a separate version of makecode that would be geared to more advanced coders this entire time, Not Changing Makecode arcade
@TheGreenArtist Figured the message

And i highly doubt that this will ever happen

That Solves One of many problems
Cool now your not using Blocks yay! now what
You still have all the same limitations
i said remove blocks because it is completely unused in Better development software
Unity Godot Unreal Gamemaker

but i hear you Makecode is Geared towards 5th graders are you a 5th grader
I’m not, im in highschool and i could still use it
just because something is geared towards a demographic doesn’t mean it stays there
Video games such as Mario, Sonic, Shovel knight, Roblox, Fortnight, Super Smash Bros, Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, i could go on For DAYS about games that are targeted to Kids that Adults play

Another point
“These limitations Force Creativity”
YES! yes they do
But it there was a separate version i think they should have less limitation
But at the same time Creativity doesn’t need limitations.

Creativity is not a winding maze of problems you have to work around it should be a open field to run around in on your path to creating the game you always wanted to!

I ran into a problem with knighted! a bit back i was trying to see if the screen size code would work with how i had everything set up and it did! but when i tried to go back BAM error and instead of just oh i cant swap back now it was gone i didn’t have a backup so i had to use KnightedWW’s link to act as it

Another example of limitations being annoying 6 buttons (8 if you want to count the menu and reset?(i wouldn’t count the reset button))
i’m using the menu button for swapping char in knighted! now i cant use it for, well a menu or a backpack.

For every game you make there is a high chance your going to use the Directions just for movement
or if your making a platformer just left and right you get 2 buttons for everything else.
why cant we have a extra button or two?

Because of the handhelds you can download these games on to

“ok use player 2 buttons” then the game feels clunky with uiojkl being the extra ones
“ok the use the keybind extension” then the game loads slower and its extra space that isn’t really available
“ok use github for more space and other parts” ok let me setup a github account add my game to it Wait a minute what was i trying to do? oh yea extra buttons.

Why not have it so that when you create a project it opens a menu saying chose a Project style
Arcade or advanced

Makecode Arcade as it stands is a great tool for beginners in code but because of the systems and limitations that are in place makes is hard to leave and easy to stay i feel it needs another Stepping stone to make it easier to create what you want with it or go to another Software to make it there

I’m not even sure why i’m writing this like nearly everything i’ve made people are going to skim through it and act like they read it and/or miss the point

the only thing i do in it is to make the screen size 320x240 lol

No, I’m not a 5th grader, i’m not saying you can’t use makecode if you are over 11 years old i’m saying that is the targeted age. I’m not exactly sure why you want makecode arcade to be more like actual game engines, that’s not what microsoft is trying to do here, it’s called a fantasy console.

Sure, larger engines look intimidating, but they really aren’t. You just have to learn them differently. With something like makecode, it’s simplicity makes it easy to get a grasp of the whole thing, but it’s nearly impossible with other engines. In reality, you just need to learn as you go.
Learn the basics of the engine (stuff like “How to move something” or “How to get inputs”) and whenver adding something new, just look up how to do it and understand why it works.
