My Game Jam Game: Rhythm Code!

Here is it; my game which I crafted to suit the theme of this Game Jam; COZY! Believe it or not, many people mind music relaxing to listen to, and even more to play soft and easy games. So I made a rhythm game for everyone to enjoy and jam to!

However, if you are coming back to the topic after reading the beginning of the game, good! This will LARGELY help with playing the game, rather than mindlessely clicking buttons! In the Spoilers below, they will entail how to play each game (Including Remix 1) Enjoy!

Game Instructions

For Catch A Thought, Colour Quartet, Target Practice, and Remix 1. Click the respective drop-downs below for tips and tricks on how to complete all of them! Go for Awesome by perfecting each game!

Catch A Thought!

Poor @PixelDoodle is stuck thinking about the Game Jam and falls into a day-dream! Help him pop ideas by clicking [A] to hit a thought bubble!

Flying in from the left, thoughts of three colors will approach the hand. Clicking [A] will make the hand shoot up to pop a bubble! Depending on the bubble’s color, it’s speed will vary.

White thought bubbles travel at a normal speed, taking half a measure to reach the hand! This will be used to compare to the other 2 bubbles!

Purple Thoughts are slower, and take twice as long for it to arrive at the hand! Time your hits to the beat, and you’ll find that you need to wait a little longer! While white takes half a measure, purple will take a WHOLE measure!

Did you catch that? It was a Green thought bubble! They move twice as fast as a white bubble, and require precise timing to hit them! If white takes a half measure, this takes a quarter measure.
You can hit multiple thought bubbles at once which at times might be necessary. Don’t worry if you mess up, though! You can always try again. ^^

Colour Quartet!

It’s nearly time for the infamous Colour Quartet to play, featuring legendary @Luke and his posse! Click [A] or [B] in order to flash red or blue according to the paint heart!

See those 4 circles at the top? They each tell you what you have to do for each set of notes, but don’t worry! Your posse will play before you, and will show their pattern with the circles!

After the circles change color, whether it’s Red Red Blue, or Red Blue Red, the 4th one (Far Right Circle) will tell you which color you must flash!

Up here, it’ll tell you that the 4th circle is blue (which means you must press [B] when the Heart reaches you to flash blue on it! Be sure to pay attention to this, as it’s key to selecting which painting to do!

Ahm…this is a bit different. Now, the 4th circle shows Black, but you can only show Blue or Red. When you see this, or the Posse play Red Red Blue, that means you mustn’t click anything! When the Heart gets to you, don’t click anything! It’ll pass by on the BEAT. But if you mess up? Don’t worry! You can always try it again.

Target Practice!

It’s time for practice and @randomuser is testing out her flaming skills out in the wild forest! Help her time her shots by clicking [A] to fire after a short wind-up!

That number at the top-right? Every beat, it’ll go up by one! But pay attention; sometimes it might change color, and THAT will determine when to click [A] in order to fire!

As you know, Dragondog has a delay to her firing, which can throw many off. In order to stay in line, paying attention to color cues on the number is key to staying on BEAT and winning!

As seen here, that number became Yellow. If you see this, be prepared to fire! Every BEAT, the number will increase by 1, until it reaches 8. Once the number becomes yellow, make sure to press [A] on the next BEAT. It takes exactly 1 number for Dragondog to fire.

Once the number turns Yellow, the next number will be Orange. This signifies that you had to click then, and on the next BEAT after Orange, it will turn Green, when the target is fired, and Dragondog hits! (after the Delay) One last thing; it won’t always be 6 that turns Yellow. Different numbers might also turn Yellow, signaling to fire next BEAT. And if you mess up? You can always try again!

Finally, Remix 1!

Careful now, for it’s the Remix! The Remix ties together both Pixel’s imagination, Luke’s talent, and Dragon’s skill! Switching between the 3, the Remix tests your knowledge on completing all three in a difficult medley!

In Pixel’s part of this Mash-Up, his notes might seem basic, but they will combine multiple bubbles together in order to confuse you! Stay on edge for perfect timing.

As for Luke’s lovely art? It will seem simple as well, but keeping your cool as the games switch might throw you off guard and mess up your groove! It’s obvious that they will switch at some point, but remembering how to play each one will help a lot!

Not only that, but Random’s ridiculous targets might be the one to mess up your run. There won’t be any shortages of 3-Timers, with it mostly being full of such! Make sure that if you mess up, you can quickly re-establish your BEAT.

Last thing (and arguably the most important aspect of Remix 1) is that it’s not perfect. There are a couple of bugs still present after polishing that may end up dampering gameplay, but it still prioritizes experience when it comes to actually playing the game! But hey; if you mess up, you can always try again!

Nonetheless, if you enjoyed the game, feel free to like it on the Topic! Share it around, as I tried my hardest for this Game Jam, and put a lot of time into it as well. Happy New Years and Merry Christmas!
