Hi everyone ![]()
I’m currently interested in creating a fast-paced rhythm game inspired by games like Geometry Dash. The main idea is to combine simple controls with music-synchronized gameplay, where timing and quick reactions are the core challenge.
However, I’m not sure where to start when it comes to designing the rhythm mechanic itself. Specifically, I’m struggling with questions like:
-
How do you sync player actions (jumps, obstacles, speed changes) with the background music?
-
Is it better to rely on timers, beats, or manual level scripting for rhythm-based gameplay?
-
How can I gradually increase difficulty without making the game feel unfair?
-
Are there any recommended techniques or examples in MakeCode for handling fast, precise input?
At the moment, I’m still in the planning phase and trying to understand the core mechanics before building a full prototype. Any advice, examples, or resources would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help!
