Hey guys, It’s Octodemon here back with some fortunate and unfortunate news for Solaris. So yes, you read that right, all of the development for Solaris will have to end in the span of 3-4 updates. Why you may be asking? Solaris currently has 7130 blocks of code in it and just adding a block of code causes the whole site to crash, but not to worry because I’ve found a few ways to get around this for just about 3-4 more updates before my pc or the website gives out. So here’s a list of things I have already updated and planned before Solaris comes to an end!
New Customization
Upon opening Solaris you may notice the Skin tab has a plus sign next to it. That’s because Skins aren’t just the only form of customization in Solaris now, but also your ship’s trail!
Out of all the visuals I’ve added to Solaris these are probably the most satisfying to look at! I don’t know if I’ll add any more than there are here for the reasons I stated earlier, but if I can I definitely will. Right now you can use this feature in the game!
New Boss
Next up I added a new boss to Solaris called the Honored Ghost I would show a picture of it but..(it’s a ghost you can’t see it). I will however, unlike with most bosses let you know how to encounter it. In order to encounter it you need to be at least Prestige 1 or higher, defeated the Honored One from the last update, and be on the Onerous difficulty. If you somehow manage to sit through all of that you will be greeted with the hardest boss currently in Solaris with 435,000 HP. For reference the second hardest boss on that difficulty has only 80,000 HP. Now what makes this boss unique is two things. The first being that instead of being a boss that travels down your screen, the Honored Ghost stays there until you defeat it. So for those of you who like to wait out bosses until they despawn, good luck! The second is that it scatters shield draining projectiles, where if you touch them your shield will be drained in large amounts leaving your health vulnerable. Overall, this boss is a big pain to deal with, but extremely satisfying when you defeat it. I suggest having Zenith, or Apothus to defeat it as well as being Prestige 2 with maximum upgrades. On it’s defeat it may or may not drop something which can lead you to getting the new secret clan, which I’ll go into next!
New Clan
This is the new clan you can get if you defeat the Honored Ghost! It has the highest stats any clan has ever had in Solaris. To put it shortly, you become the boss lol. And just a side note, this isn’t a direct unlock after beating the boss, but you need to piece together a few clues in order to do so..
Anyways there isn’t much else to say about this clan, good luck to those who are going to try and find it!
New Upgrade
One difficult thing about Solaris was knowing exactly how much Shield or Health you had, even how much Health a boss had too. This is all fixed with the new Stat Viewer! This fixes all of those problems and shows live data about you and your enemies while fighting them. Hopefully this will be a helpful addition to your upgrades in Solaris!
And that wraps up the things I currently added to the game!
Future Plans
Things left to add to Solaris are:
3 Clans: Legendary - Legion of Greed, Secret- Broken Sword, and finally the most powerful clan ever to be added to Solaris in the future, Final - Vessel of Solaris.
The last few skins, even though you can see them in the game, they still aren’t usable yet
Bosses: The two final bosses of the game (Tbd on adding the bosses to the boss competition)
Customization, possibly adding the option to change your blaster color too.
And that should be it! It may be little but it’s a conclusion to Solaris and its little story. It’s what I can add at the moment and I think it’s a fitting end to the game.
Final Notes
I just wanted to say its truly been so much fun working on this game and I wish I could work on it more, but I would need a massive PC for that and there’d need to be a few upgrades to the makecode website before that. Overall, I’m glad this game brought enjoyment to so many people, and even though it may be coming to an end, that doesn’t mean an end to fun you can have with the game! So play it! Thanks guys,
