I’m trying to create a metroidvania, where the upgrades, while they do have a use in platforming, will take form of an instrument. I’ll post updates on the game over here as well. I have ideas for my different areas, I just need different instruments. It’s fine if it’s made up, just make sure the instruments aren’t all percussion. I need an instrument for an underground/fungus, an icy area, a mossy/grassy area, and a mechanical area. It’s fine if you don’t give art, but please include what the instrument does (ex. wall climb or dash or something like that) Thank you!
For a functional one, the Flute! This gives you the average double jump.
Now, for an odd one, comically large trumpet. Its fully optional. Just because.
I like the idea of a large trumpet, but where should I place it? I forgot to specify earlier that the order the map is to be explored in was fungus, grass, ice, than mechanical, if you need that do figure where you want to place it.
I think the flute should be fairly early, either fungus or grass area. The trumpet should be in the fungus area in a place that requires the last obtainable instrument’s ability. Because why not
I think I might merge the functionality of the trumpet and flute, so that I don’t have to make it too overcomplicated. Thanks for the help!
This is an early show of how the map looks like! The top door is the only one that works so far. You can currently
- Save location by pressing down near totems
- jump by pressing up
- Interact with the one NPC by pressing down button
- Get attacked by enemies
I do need help with figuring out how to make the map split (so making the bottom door of the first room usable) So if anyone could help me with that, that’d be nice. Here it is!
