Just because I can.

Found out a way to fix this. The reason’s something along the lines of ‘when moving diagonally you go in a zigzag pattern instead of moving in both directions each frame so you have to multiply movement speed by the square root of 2 to compensate’. Still don’t really get it but hey, it works, so I’m not gonna spend my quality procrastination time to question it.

Can’t wait to see this when this is finished!

Okay, I am kinda stumped. I am currently making the dialog boxes for the game. I’m using the fancy text extension for the fonts. However, I am not sure how to make the text only take up a specified amount of space before you have to press A to see the next line of dialogue. I am still thinking about how my function will look to make it look good. But right now the text positions itself differently when the length of the text is different. Any suggestions?

NOO0000ooooo… A day’s worth of assets and code just disappeared. I had made the entirety of Toriel’s battle sprite and many facial expressions. :sob:
My last backup was over a day ago…
I do still have most of the battle sprites saved on my computer. but still. I lost so much work.

NOOOOOOOOOOoOOOO
if it is just an exact copy, you could try getting the assets → convert to copyable makecode img → copy into game

I luckily had a backup of the assets from when <I imported them to Makecode. I used KristianPedersen’s image converter. I imported them into a new project and then copy pasted it over. Meaning I had a backup. Now I’m having a fun and hard time at the same time trying to get the most out of each color. I will have to cut out some colors to make this work. But I’m trying my best to make it look good. Currently, it’s looking pretty decent.

Yeah I have been drawing my sprites in the best pixel art editor of all time MS Paint! (No joke). So I just put the images into KristianPedersen’s image converter. specified the correct resolution. then I pasted this into a different project. from there, all I had to do was copy-paste it from one project to the other by pressing CTRL + A and CTRL + C and then make a new image in my actual game and specify the size of the image. Press CTRL + A and CTRL + C. Wow this sounds a lot much more complicated than just using Makecode. However, there are some features in MS Paint that Makecode doesn’t have. And it is easier to import reference images. It still sucks. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. But It’s the best free option I have. The 800% max zoom is killing me tho.

As any sane person would do, I took a break from this project for holiday reasons
+ The day before Christmas I got sick. So sick in fact that I couldn’t swallow anything. When the Christmas dinner arrived, I was so ill I couldn’t eat. I did get some great presents. But it was sad to miss out on all the food. I couldn’t talk, laugh, eat, drink, swallow, or even turn my head without it hurting. it got so bad I couldn’t swallow my spit. I have been to the doctor and I am feeling much better now. So I will return to this project again shortly. since this is more of a life update and not a game update, I thought I should share my finished Toriel battle/dialog sprite!

How is the game?

Well I’ve been having my vacation. So I haven’t worked on it. But today school is starting up again. Also I was able to convince the teachers that I could have this as a school project in programming. Meaning I can work on it at school! :sunglasses:

Oh yes! I would love some help with the music. A good example of how I want the music to sound is the Undertale Gameboy port. If you look it up, you can hear the music sounds 8-bit but it still sounds great. But you do you. I’m just glad to get some help with this
