Onion skins exist in animation

I think there’s a piano roll extension as well?

You can customize menus with menu frames

nientoes has a better version of raycasting

Hope this helped!

I was thinking something like selecting more than more block at a time

some of these have already been done : D

when i first opened this topic i saw a post from richard showing onion skins

if u want layers at least what i know, u can download the arcade-background-scroll extension and make layers like that on backgrounds.

we also just got an august update giving us the piano roll extension. (just look up piano u will find it) We also have this awesome cool thingy for converting.

a random tilemap generator can be tricky because u might have half the tilemap be blocked off.

if u want a bigger screen, just go to javascript, go to the top of ur code and put in this:

namespace userconfig {
export const ARCADE_SCREEN_WIDTH = 320
export const ARCADE_SCREEN_HEIGHT = 240
}

Hes just not happy with the fact that you have to wait to get posts approved.

Isn’t that right, @ShadowWhisker?

Yes, there’s a block that lets you place tiles on top of others.

I’m pretty sure this is already an extension and you can just use that one noise extension.

if you do want to import MIDI using one of my tools, use the latest one: MIDI-to-MakeCode-Arcade

not ArcadeMIDI or Musical-Images, those are old and only support piano, and are buggy.

This is mainly for pixel art creators, but being able to change the colour palette in the sprite editor would be so nice

@Sword_Studios , i understand the importance of messages needing to be approved, its just that it is slightly annoying when you are trying to release a game quickly and it takes a day and a half to be approved.

@air there has not been multiple posts of me hating on the mods. At least not that i know of. If there is, then i am being hacked. And i wasnt HATING on them i was just pointing out that the message approval time is slightly frustrating if you are trying to send things quickly. and @Sword_Studios yea i know discobot is not a real person.

I just wanted to clear up some of the statements made in my previous post. I also just want to let you all know that I’m really, really new to makecode arcade. I just started this month, so any technical jargon is utterly useless in meaning to me, unfortunately. I appreciate all the replies and helpful information on the extensions available. However, I made the post thinking that the topic was made to suggest permanent, built in features on the makecode arcade site. This might just be a misconception on my part, as it seems many people are suggesting purely for extensions. However, many school computers have github and even the forums blocked, so yes, they may be extensions, but it’d be great if I could do it from within the makecode site itself, rather than waiting till I get home to add an extension, if this is making any sense. To clear up a few of my asks(in no particular order):

  • I did not even see the onion skin feature. Sorry about that. As for the layers, I meant I want to be able to separate and edit my character with different parts separately. For example, say I have a fully animated main character with walk, and attack animations. But, I want to make it so their upgraded weapon looks different. Using layers, I can separate the animations I already worked hard on, and simply edit the weapons.
  • As for the music, I got lots of replies for that one. In retrospect, it makes entire sense why we are not allowed to import music, in case of copyrights and such. However, I want to point out that I specifically said “…but I’d also like a more expansive music editor”. I forgot to mention that I know, and have used piano roll before. It is not the best, as you only have c1 to c6 for everything, meaning from bass to melody. And, for just about every instrument, anything past c4 becomes inaudible. There is no fade in or out for looping background music, and there is always room for more instruments. I’d also like to point out the fact that I still have not found a way to use a flat note. That eliminates entire music scales. Very, VERY vital music scales, and my favorite keys. And, since its still in beta, why not add these things? Really, the music role is just a different ui of the base music editor, but with drums.
  • The tilemap generator would work a bit like this: You have a set tile for walls, floors and assign decor objects. Type in a tilemap range(size and width) , and the layout is randomly generated within that.
  • The DS extension was more of just like a feel. You wouldn’t want to be making a highly polished triple A game and then format the ui to look retro, would you? It’s the same for me. I love character creators, mystery games, visual novels and a lot of those types of games were on the rise with the ds console release. And, without needing to add an extension and assuming this is all it really is, it’s making a few conditions/on starts for the dual screens and two more buttons. That’s why I suggested it, really.
  • To clear up the menu looks, I suppose what I’m really asking for are ui components. I specificaly named Zelda and pokemon, as they often have personalized ui. Think about the maps, or the pokedex, or even looking for items in your inventory. In pokemon black and white, the whole ui was drawn to look like items and your bag which you’d need on a pokemon adventure. In a visual novel, CYOA or text based mystery game, a clean and personalized menu can help with immersion. Adding a ui component or theme to make text boxes look slightly dimmed, item quantity counters, item rows and columns, tailored descriptions, menu overlays, not only for the basic settings like volume and sound, but overlays for screens like character info, help options, quests, the ability to add your own art for scores and life ui elements, or even just switching the color of ui to make it immerssive. I may be the only one who’d go this over the top with ui, or cares that much about it. This might be a bit over the top here but ui is really important in games. Nobody would have played Pokémon if they couldn’t access their Pokémon, or use a revive. So, yeah, that’s what I meant by it.
  • Raycasting, this section as a whole didn’t seem to cause much confusion at all, though I did receive many links to github and such for the extension. If I’m trying to make a 3d game, I shouldn’t really be having to go through hoops and jumps to get a ceiling and floor, items and npc’s. It’s an awesome feature, and adding this into the actual permanent makecode arcade would make it much more accessible, and worth the time it takes to learn the in’s and out’s of the extension.

I believe this concludes all the topics I covered. Hopefully this cleared up any confusion. I’d also like to say that what I am suggesting here is the full, best possible outcome for all of my suggestions. I am fully aware that I kept adding “ands” to already complex features, and even without experience in javascript and the like that these may be pipe fantasies. But, you miss every shot you don’t take, so. Yeah.

Really? Cause i wasnt sure

The mods are people too. They do things like eat, sleep, and work just like you do. So there’s no other solution but to wait. And if you don’t like that, you could leave the forums, just saying.

Im just making sure, did you know you can press the “:back_arrow: Reply” button at the bottom-right of somebody’s post, and you can reply to them? I’ve noticed that you have never used it before.
