Happy start of the week everyone! And thanks for having such lively discussions in last week’s weekly topic! It’s fun getting opportunities to learn from each other!

Anyway, let’s talk about favorite vacation destinations! Is there an ideal spot to take some time away from daily life? This can be a city; a natural spot like a lake, beach, or national park; maybe an amusement park; or maybe it’s a family member that you love to visit. Let’s chat about it!

I love walking down to a nearby coffee shop :3 it’s a tradition of mine to go get a baked good and a coffee after the end of a big competition like coder king or unique-a-thon!

I WANT TO GO TO PARIS!!! :sob:

It looks way too perfect of a city, so many landmarks just EVERYWHERE… Eiffel Tower… The Louvre… and, idk why but the look of the houses seem nostalgic for some weird reason  I mean, ive never been there before…

The answer to this question has changed for me throughout my life, but right now, I would have to say somewhere with a water feature. No, I can’t name a specific place, because all of the places I can think of I want to go back to equally.

However, I will share some notable places from my travels this year! I highly recommend Lake Tahoe in California. It really is gorgeous and HUGE. And Mount Rainier in Washington was a huge highlight for me as well. For those that might not know, there are quite a few water falls in Mount Rainier National Park! My favorite was Comet Falls, as pictured:

Anywhere that takes me away from my desk.

Among my favorite places, though:

  • Mackinac City, Bay City, and anywhere else on the water in Michigan.
  • Detroit, which is right down the road from me. It’s far enough away to feel like a vacation, but close enough to make it an easy trip. So many cool things to see and great events to attend.
  • Western Montana, where I have family whom I love to visit. Plus, the Bitterroot Valley is beautiful.
  • The PNW in general. The Cascades are gorgeous. Redmond and the Microsoft campus are incredible. Seattle and the Puget Sound are gorgeous. Northwestern Oregon is gorgeous. My business partner is awesome and lives in Seattle. I love visiting that region.
  • Las Vegas. I genuinely enjoy visiting Circus Circus and Treasure Island.
  • Washington, D.C. Absolutely overwhelming in its history with so many amazing monuments and museums.
  • Ottawa, Ontario. I’ve only been once, and I need to get back there soon. Such a cool city with so much variety, from castles to modern arts venues.

At the top of my list of places that I have not yet visited but want to visit soon:

  • Stratford, Ontario. I’m a Shakespeare fan, and I want to see the preeminent Shakespeare festival in North America.
  • Montréal, Ontario. I need to work on my French more, though!
  • France. Paris, sure, but I’d really love to visit the South of France. Again, I need to work on my French.
  • The British Isles. All of them. I have a lot of English in my family history and a very little Irish.

Cantabria. It’s in Spain, and it’s really nice. Everything is so green and lively, plus it snows in the mountains sometimes (for me snow is rare, I understand if anyone finds it wierd for me to point that out). Overall it’s a great place to visit, with a lot of stuff to do and places to see.
